Chinese Chef Commis 1

The Chinese Commis 1 assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Chinese dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This position requires strong knowledge of Chinese culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavors, as well as adherence to hygiene and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Prepare and cook Chinese dishes as per the restaurant’s standards and recipes (e.g., stir-fries, dim sum, soups, noodles, rice dishes).

 Assist in mise en place preparation for the section — chopping vegetables, marinating vegetables, preparing sauces, and organizing the workstation.

 Ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard, maintaining consistency and quality.

 Maintain proper portion control and minimize wastage.

 Follow the instructions of the Chinese Chef de Partie in daily operations.

 Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and used safely.

 Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with HACCP and food safety standards.

 Assist with inventory management — checking stock levels, reporting shortages, and storing ingredients correctly.

 Support junior staff and work as part of a cohesive kitchen team.

 Adhere to all company policies, health and safety procedures, and grooming standards.
