Job Summary

The Operations Head will lead the end-to-end manufacturing operations of the company, ensuring world-class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Customer Satisfaction. The role is responsible for production, quality, maintenance, planning, supply chain coordination, customer interactions, process engineering, and continuous improvement across the CNC machining facility.

The successful candidate will lead a high-performance team manufacturing precision components for Aerospace, Defence, Medical Devices, Industrial Equipment, and Automation industries.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations

* Lead all machining operations involving:

  * Vertical Machining Centres (VMC)

  * CNC Turning Centres

  * 5-Axis Machining Centres

  * Turn-Mill Machines

* Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, tooling, and floor space.

* Drive operational excellence to meet production and profitability targets.

Production Planning & Control

* Develop production plans aligned with customer schedules.

* Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production performance.

* Improve throughput while reducing cycle time and setup time.

* Ensure on-time delivery of all customer orders.

Quality Management

* Ensure compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

* Drive zero-defect manufacturing culture.

* Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer and internal quality issues.

* Support customer audits and certification audits.

Maintenance & Asset Management

* Establish preventive and predictive maintenance systems.

* Maximize machine uptime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

* Plan machine upgrades and capital equipment requirements.

Engineering & Process Improvement

* Work closely with CNC programming and manufacturing engineering teams.

* Optimize machining strategies, tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters.

* Lead Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supply Chain & Supplier Management

* Coordinate with suppliers for tooling, raw materials, subcontracting, heat treatment, coating, and special processes.

* Develop supplier performance metrics and ensure timely material availability.

Customer Management

* Serve as the primary operations contact for key customers.

* Participate in technical reviews, new product introductions, and customer visits.

* Ensure timely resolution of production, quality, and delivery concerns.

Team Leadership

* Lead Production, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Stores, Manufacturing Engineering, and Shop Floor Supervisors.

* Build a high-performance culture through coaching, accountability, and performance management.

* Develop succession plans and training programs for technical staff.

Financial Responsibility

* Manage departmental budgets.

* Improve productivity and profitability through cost reduction initiatives.

* Control tooling, consumable, overtime, and maintenance costs.

* Support annual business planning and capacity expansion.

Technical Requirements

* Strong knowledge of:

  * Siemens CNC Controls

  * Heidenhain CNC Controls

  * Fanuc CNC Controls

* Expertise in multi-axis machining, CNC turning, and Turn-Mill operations.

* Excellent understanding of GD&T, machining processes, cutting tools, fixtures, and process capability.

* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning software.

* Working knowledge of AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

* Master’s Degree (preferred).

Experience

* 15–20 years in precision CNC machining and manufacturing.

* Minimum 8 years leading multi-disciplinary manufacturing teams.

* Experience in Aerospace, Defence, Medical Devices, or other high-precision engineering industries is highly preferred.
