Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality process engineering support for Sewage Treatment Plants(STP) & Water Treatment Plants(WTP) across all stages of project development. Your work will include conducting plant and process reviews, performing assessments, executing root‑cause analyses, and applying advanced evaluation techniques.
You will lead feasibility studies and carry out process design activities, including mass balance calculations, development of process flow diagrams and P&IDs, design risk assessments, control philosophies, commissioning strategies, and preparation of technical specifications for Sewage Treatment Plants & Water Treatment Plants. The role also involves evaluating supplier tenders and working with digital design tools such as unit process sizing and automated design systems.
A key part of the role includes preparing technical reports throughout the project lifecycle and collaborating with clients across the UK, Middle East, Hong Kong, USA, and Canada. You will work within regulatory frameworks such as HAZOP, DSEAR, CDM, WIMES, and relevant British/European Standards applicable to Sewage Treatment Plants & Water Treatment Plants.

Role requirements:

Experience in the Process design of Wastewater/Sewage Treatment Plants (WWTP/STP) & Water Treatment Plants (WTP)

• Clean water treatment processes include DAF, RGFs, disinfection (ozonation, UV, chlorination, etc.), membrane filtration (UF, NF & RO), etc.
• Biological wastewater treatment (Trickling Filter (TF), Activated Sludge Process (ASP), Oxidation Ditch, Rotating Biological Contactors, Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR), Membrane Bioreactor (MBR), Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge (IFAS), Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), etc.)
• Chemical dosing system for various applications (includes ortho-P removal, pH adjustment, etc.)
• Sludge treatment (includes centrifuge, filter press, thickeners, digesters, dewatering units, etc.)
• Biological Nutrient Removal configurations (MLE (Modified Ludzack-Ettinger), A²/O process, 4-stage / 5-stage Bardenpho, integrated BNR with ASP/IFAS/MBBR retrofits)
• Odour and septicity treatment

Responsibilities (will vary depending on project and client):

• Plant and process reviews, assessments, root-cause analysis, applying cutting-edge evaluation techniques
• Feasibility, outline and detailed process design calculations, including mass balances, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, design risk assessments, control philosophies, commissioning strategies, plant and equipment specifications, supplier tender evaluation
• Working with and developing digital design tools such as unit process sizing and other automated design tools
• Technical report writing at all stages of the project lifecycle
• Communication with clients within the UK, Middle East, Hong Kong, USA, Canada, etc.
• Understanding of HAZOP, DSEAR, CDM, WIMES, British and European standards and other statutory, regulatory, and non-regulatory provisions and guidance
• Meet and exceed quality, programme, budgetary, and H&S requirements on projects
• Contributing new innovative ideas / making suggestions for innovation
• Opportunity to present your project work at company meetings or at conferences
• Able to coordinate with a wider team in multidisciplinary projects

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• B.Tech in Chemical/Civil/Environmental Engineering (only recognized degrees from universities in India and abroad)
• M.Tech in Environmental Engineering will be preferred
• 7–10 years of work experience in the water/wastewater sector
• Experience of working on international projects, preferably UK, ME, USA, etc.
• Possess strong communication and soft skills and be able to function independently with minimal supervision or as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Good knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the water industry
