Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all civil construction activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, contract requirements, and applicable codes. The role involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and documenting quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and quality procedures.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, client requirements, and relevant standards.
- Conduct inspections of civil works, including excavation, foundations, reinforcement, concrete works, masonry, structural steel, and finishing works.
- Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Review and approve material inspection reports, test certificates, and laboratory test results.
- Monitor incoming materials to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
- Raise, track, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, checklists, test records, and quality logs.
- Coordinate concrete testing, soil testing, cube testing, and other quality-related laboratory activities.
- Ensure proper calibration of measuring and testing equipment.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure adherence to project quality requirements.
- Identify quality risks and recommend corrective measures.
- Support project teams in resolving quality-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
- Prepare quality reports for management and clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Certification in QA/QC or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor is preferred.
- Additional certifications in quality management are an advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in QA/QC within civil construction projects.
- Experience in commercial buildings, industrial projects, infrastructure, roads, bridges, or high-rise construction is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of IS Codes, ASTM, BS, ACI, and relevant construction standards.
- Experience in concrete technology, structural inspections, and material testing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with AutoCAD and project management software is an advantage.
