Key Responsibilities:

In-Line Inspection & Fit-Up Verification

• Versify First-Piece Setup: Approve first-off samples for laser cutting, punching, and CNC bending before mass production runs.
• Conduct Stage Inspections: Perform regular patrol inspections across cutting, forming, welding, and powder coating lines.
• Check Weld Quality: Inspect weld penetration, bead consistency, and weld fit-ups, looking for defects like spatter, porosity, or distortion. [1]
• Audit Surface Finishes: Evaluate parts post-fettling, grinding, and painting for scratches, burrs, uneven coating thickness, or raw edges. [1]

Defect Analysis & Troubleshooting

• Investigate Springback & Tolerances: Resolve chronic sheet metal issues like material springback, bend radius variations, and flatness deviations.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis: Deploy 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis to address line rejections and reduce scrap rates.
• Manage Material Rejection: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), quarantine defective metal sheets, and manage rework protocols. [1, 2, 3]

Metrology & Statistical Control

• Run Statistical Process Control: Monitor process capability (\(C_{p}\), \(C_{pk}\)) on critical dimensional characteristics.
• Manage Welding/Bending Fixtures: Verify the alignment, wear, and calibration of checking fixtures, welding jigs, and gauges
