Job Description
The Utility Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of all plant utility systems. The role includes planning preventive maintenance, optimizing energy consumption, managing utility teams, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting uninterrupted production through efficient utility management.
- Key ResponsibilitiesUtility OperationsManage the operation and maintenance of utility systems including:
- Boilers
- Air Compressors
- Chillers
- Cooling Towers
- HVAC Systems
- DG Sets
- Electrical Distribution Systems
- Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
- Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
- Steam Distribution
- Fire Fighting Systems
- Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to production.
- Monitor utility performance and optimize efficiency.
- Maintenance ManagementDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
- Coordinate breakdown maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Maintain equipment history and maintenance records.
- Improve equipment reliability and availability.
- Energy ManagementMonitor electricity, water, fuel, steam, and compressed air consumption.
- Identify energy-saving opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Track utility KPIs and prepare monthly performance reports.
- Support sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Team ManagementLead utility engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Prepare duty rosters and manpower planning.
- Conduct technical and safety training.
- Monitor team performance and productivity.
- Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, GMP, or other applicable standards.
- Maintain all statutory licenses and inspection records.
- Vendor & Budget ManagementManage AMC contracts and external service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance.
- Prepare annual utility and maintenance budgets.
- Control maintenance and utility costs.
- Continuous ImprovementImplement Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.
- Lead improvement projects for utility optimization.
- Reduce downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
