Job Title: Accountant (with Tally & Java Expertise)

Job Summary

We are seeking a versatile Accountant to manage our core financial operations while leveraging programming skills to automate accounting workflows. The ideal candidate will handle daily bookkeeping, tax compliance, and financial reporting using Tally ERP/Prime. Additionally, you will utilize Java to build custom integrations, automate data entry, and bridge the gap between our accounting software and internal databases.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance (60%)

• Ledger Management: Maintain accurate daily accounting records and general ledgers.
• Software Operations: Execute invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll in Tally.
• Taxation: Prepare and file monthly/quarterly GST, TDS, and other statutory returns.
• Reconciliation: Perform regular bank, vendor, and customer ledger reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Draft balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.

Automation & Systems Integration (40%)

• Workflow Automation: Write Java scripts/applications to automate repetitive manual accounting tasks.
• Data Integration: Develop tools to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data between Tally and Java applications.
• API Management: Utilize Tally XML capabilities or APIs to sync financial data with internal systems.
• Custom Reporting: Build custom Java-based dashboards to generate advanced financial analytics.
• System Maintenance: Debug and optimize existing software bridges connecting accounting and IT.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Computer Science with accounting certifications.

Technical Skills

• Accounting Software: Advanced proficiency in Tally ERP 9 / TallyPrime.
• Programming: Strong core Java development skills (collections, I/O streams, JSON/XML parsing).
• Databases: Good knowledge of SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle) for financial data extraction.
• Data Exchange: Experience with XML, HTTP protocols, and RESTful APIs to communicate with Tally.

Core Accounting Knowledge

• Deep understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accounting standards, and financial principles.
• Strong grasp of local tax laws (GST, TDS, Corporate Tax).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Tally Definition Language (TDL) is a major plus.
• Prior experience working in a FinTech company or an internal automation team.
• Strong analytical and logical problem-solving abilities.
