Senior Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical design principles and extensive experience in industrial machine design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in machine design, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing processes, with hands-on experience in developing machines such as straightening machines, rolling machines, bending machines, hydraulic presses, and power presses.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a practical understanding of manufacturing processes to deliver reliable and cost-effective machine designs.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead the design and development of industrial machinery and equipment from concept to production.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Review and validate designs for manufacturability, performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop assembly designs and ensure proper part compatibility, fit, and functionality.
• Collaborate with production, quality, procurement, and R&D teams to ensure smooth manufacturing and assembly.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and engineering evaluations.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Analyse and resolve design issues during prototype development and production.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Provide technical support during machine installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites whenever required.
• Mentor junior design engineers and support cross-functional engineering projects.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience in machine design, fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly.
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Sound knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), welding, fabrication, machining, and assembly practices.
• Experience in designing straightening machines, rolling machines, bending machines, hydraulic presses, or power press machines will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead small design teams.
• Excellent communication, technical documentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Experience :

• Experience in heavy machinery design and fabrication industries.
• Exposure to custom machine design and development projects.
• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system integration.
• Familiarity with manufacturing standards and engineering best practices.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in industrial machine design and manufacturing is preferred.
• Candidates with experience in heavy engineering or custom machine manufacturing environments will be given preference.
