Vehicle Technician

A truck technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs commercial and heavy-duty vehicles. They perform routine maintenance, fix mechanical and electrical faults, and ensure fleet safety using specialized diagnostic software and tools. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues using computer scanners and testing tools.
• Repair and replace broken parts in engines, brakes, transmissions, and suspension systems.
• Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, fluid checks, and tire alignments.
• Service modern systems such as emissions controls, electrical wiring, and hydraulic lines.
• Test drive trucks to confirm repairs work properly.

Job Requirements

• Education: High school diploma plus vocational training, an ITI/diploma, or certification in diesel technology.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience working on commercial or heavy-duty trucks.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, and electrical schematics.
• Physical ability: Capability to lift heavy parts (up to 50 lbs) and work in awkward spaces.
