Fitter Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems: LT/HT distribution, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, panel boards, circuit breakers, contactors and relays.
• 
  
• Install, wire and commission electrical panels, motors, starters, drives (VFDs) and field devices per drawings and standards.
• Carry out fault-finding and troubleshooting (isolation tests, continuity, insulation resistance, motor winding checks) and resolve breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Support PLC/ DCS technicians by wiring I/O, power supplies and basic signal checks; assist in basic PLC/drive parameter checks and resets (no advanced programming unless qualified).
• Maintain cable trays, cable routing, earthing/grounding systems and lightning protection.
• Follow lockout-tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work and confined-space procedures; ensure safe isolation before work.
• Conduct/assist with electrical testing and commissioning (megger, clamp meter, multimeter, IR thermography if trained).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, spares usage, work orders and shift handovers in CMMS; complete GMP documentation where required.
• Support validation/calibration activities by providing access, wiring, and basic checks for calibrated devices; comply with calibration labels and records.
• Work with engineering to implement modifications, upgrades and new equipment installation per drawings and change control.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call or rotating shift rosters as required.
• Train/mentor junior electricians and apprentices on safe work and basic troubleshooting.
