Job Description
Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of restaurant equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, and general facility infrastructure across QSR outlets. The role ensures minimal equipment downtime, adherence to food safety standards, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Equipment MaintenancePerform preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen equipment.
- Repair and troubleshoot ovens, fryers, grills, coffee machines, mixers, refrigerators, freezers, and other food preparation equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Electrical & Mechanical MaintenanceDiagnose and repair electrical faults.
- Maintain lighting, electrical panels, switches, sockets, and wiring.
- Repair motors, pumps, exhaust systems, and mechanical components.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards.
- Refrigeration & HVACMaintain refrigeration units, cold rooms, freezers, and chillers.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems to ensure optimal restaurant temperature.
- Monitor refrigerant levels and cooling efficiency.
- Plumbing & Civil MaintenanceRepair water pipelines, drainage systems, wash basins, and faucets.
- Address leakages and plumbing issues promptly.
- Perform minor civil repairs including painting, tiling, ceiling, and flooring maintenance.
- Preventive MaintenanceExecute preventive maintenance schedules for all restaurant assets.
- Maintain preventive maintenance checklists and service logs.
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs when required.
- Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures while performing repairs.
- Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities.
- Vendor CoordinationCoordinate with external contractors and service providers.
- Verify service quality and completion of assigned work.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and raise purchase requests when required.
- Emergency SupportAttend equipment breakdowns immediately to minimize operational downtime.
- Provide on-call maintenance support during emergencies.
- Ensure uninterrupted restaurant operations.
- Required SkillsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC systems
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Time management and multitasking abilities
- Basic computer knowledge for maintenance reporting
- QualificationsITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related technical field.
- Certification in electrical or refrigeration maintenance is an added advantage.
- Experience 1-2 years of maintenance experience in the QSR, restaurant, hospitality, food service, retail, or FMCG industry.
- Experience in maintaining commercial kitchen equipment is preferred.
