NPP Package Manager

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

Package Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of specific project packages—such as Boiler Structure, Pressure Parts, Non Pressure Parts, BOIs, Electrical, C&I etc—within a large-scale EPC project. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role ensures timely execution of the assigned package in line with project scope, budget, quality, and safety requirements. The Package Manager coordinates with engineering, procurement, construction, and quality teams, as well as with vendors and subcontractors, to drive performance and resolve technical or execution challenges. The role also involves progress monitoring, interface management, and ensuring compliance with contractual and client specifications within the package scope.

 

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

Package Execution & Coordination

  • Manage end-to-end execution of the assigned package (e.g., Boiler, TG, BOP, Civil, Electrical) in line with project schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams for seamless package integration and interface resolution.
  • Ensure timely release of design inputs, manufacturing clearance, dispatches, and site availability of equipment and materials.
  • Monitor site execution progress of the package, identify bottlenecks, and drive resolution in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on package status, risks, and required interventions.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

  • Follow up with vendors/manufacturers for engineering deliverables, production status, inspections, and dispatch milestones.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual delivery timelines and technical compliance of package items.
  • Coordinate with quality and logistics teams for pre-dispatch inspections and timely movement of materials to site.

Contract and Commercial Management

  • Support in evaluating package-specific contracts, scope deviations, and technical clarifications.
  • Identify and document changes, claims, and variations related to the assigned package.
  • Assist in tracking package budgets, managing cost deviations, and supporting billing and certification activities.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with client representatives, consultants, and subcontractors for approvals, inspections, and dispatch clearances.
  • Act as the primary interface for package-specific technical and execution discussions with vendors and site teams.
  • Foster a collaborative approach with internal departments to ensure alignment of priorities and actions.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure implementation of quality assurance plans and safety protocols related to package execution.
  • Monitor compliance with technical specifications, contract conditions, and statutory regulations.
  • Support audits and inspections related to the assigned package and implement corrective actions as required.

Project Manager & Project Team

  • Provide package-specific updates on progress, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Align package execution with overall project strategy and timelines.

Engineering Team

  • Coordinate for release of design documents, drawings, and technical clarifications.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical deviations or design issues affecting the package.

Supply Chain Management Teams

  • Follow up on vendor finalization, PO placement, and logistics planning for package items.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and address procurement delays or gaps.

Manufacturing & Inspection Teams (e.g., Hazira, Vadodara)

  • Track manufacturing progress, plan inspections, and ensure adherence to quality and delivery timelines.
  • Support closure of USOD, NCRs.

Construction & Site Execution Teams

  • Resolve site execution issues and facilitate progress of package erection and commissioning.
  • Support closure of USOD, NCRs.

Planning & Cost Control Teams

  • Align on progress reporting, billing milestones, and package cost tracking.
  • Assist in variance analysis and recovery planning.

External Stakeholder

Purpose of Interaction

Clients / Consultants

  • Coordinate for approvals, inspections, and dispatch clearances.

Vendors / Subcontractors

  • Monitor engineering deliverables, production status, and dispatch plans.
  • Resolve technical and commercial issues affecting package execution.

Third-Party Inspectors / TPIA

  • Coordinate for inspections, approvals, and documentation related to package items.
  • Ensure timely release of inspection certificates.

Logistics Partners

  • Plan transportation, material handling, and delivery to site in line with package schedule requirements.

Nature of 

Experience

  • Experience in managing the execution of major packages within large-scale EPC projects across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning stages.
  • Hands-on experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and construction.
  • Experience in dealing with vendors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery and execution of package scope.
