Job Purpose: This role will execute daily maintenance operations, ensuring tasks are in compliance with safety regulations. This role will assist team lead in planning and scheduling maintenance activities, including preventive measures and emergency responses, while managing resources effectively. This role involves maintaining the Maintenance Information System (MIS), analysing performance data, and reporting on key metrics to optimize maintenance processes.

Lead Port Maintenance

Daily Maintenance and Execution:

Execute day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring timely execution and adherence to operational plans.

Manage the execution of work orders, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Coordinate the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring all maintenance work is conducted safely and in compliance with regulations.

Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, providing rapid and effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Supervise the use of maintenance tools and equipment, ensuring proper handling and care.

Ensure that the maintenance team adheres to the daily operational schedule and targets.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:

Assist team lead in the development of maintenance plans, aligning with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

Collaborate with the Team Lead to refine maintenance procedures and schedules based on operational feedback.

Monitor equipment condition and performance, contributing to the maintenance forecasting process.

Assist in planning for shutdowns and major maintenance activities, ensuring minimal impact on port operations.

Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks or when additional resources are required.

Resource Planning and Allocation:

Plan and allocate human and material resources to meet daily maintenance requirements.

Manage the distribution of tasks among team members, ensuring an even workload and efficient use of labour.

Manage the inventory of maintenance supplies, ordering parts and materials as needed.

Ensure that the team has access to the necessary tools, equipment, and safety gear for all maintenance activities.

Collaborate with the Team Lead to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste.

Forecast resource needs for upcoming projects and maintenance activities, preparing requisitions in advance.

MIS and Reporting:

Generate and maintain Maintenance Information System (MIS) reports, providing insights into maintenance activities and equipment status.

Report on key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance costs, and resource utilization to the Team Lead.

Analyse maintenance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.

Prepare documentation for completed maintenance work, including details of actions taken, parts used, and time spent.

Contribute to the preparation of presentations and reports for senior management reviews.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance history, warranties, and vendor interactions.

Business Sustainability:

Implement and follow to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines, and other relevant standards within the department.

Enforce safety protocols during maintenance activities, ensuring the well-being of all team members.

Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety awareness.

Participate in safety audits and inspections, addressing any identified issues promptly.

Ensure that all maintenance work complies with environmental regulations and company policies.

Collaborate with the safety department to enhance safety training and procedures.

Digitization and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.

Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Educational Qualification:

BE/B.tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is typically required, with some roles possibly requiring a Master's degree.

Work Experience (Range of years):

6+ years of experience in maintenance management, with a proven track record in mechanical systems and preventive maintenance strategies.

Preferred Industry:

Experience in the maritime, port operations, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred, with a strong background in managing mechanical equipment maintenance within such environments.
