Senior Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Design Engineer to lead and execute the mechanical design and development of yarn manufacturing machinery and related equipment. The candidate will be responsible for machine design, 3D modeling, engineering drawings, component selection, design optimization, and providing technical support to production, assembly, and service teams.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, textile machinery, manufacturing processes, and CAD software, along with the ability to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance machine designs.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Machine Design & Development

• Design and develop yarn manufacturing machines, machine assemblies, sub-assemblies, and mechanical components.
• Prepare 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Develop new machine models and improve existing designs to enhance machine performance, reliability, and productivity.
• Ensure proper integration of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and drive systems wherever applicable.
• Select appropriate materials, bearings, shafts, gears, belts, pulleys, fasteners, and other mechanical components.

B. Engineering Documentation

• Prepare and maintain detailed engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and technical specifications.
• Ensure drawing accuracy, dimensional tolerances, fits, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Maintain drawing revisions, design records, and engineering documentation.
• Prepare manufacturing and assembly drawings in coordination with production requirements.

C. Design Optimization & Cost Control

• Analyze existing designs and implement improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and material consumption.
• Optimize machine structures and components for strength, durability, ease of manufacturing, and ease of maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for standardization and component interchangeability.
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and performance requirements.

D. Production & Assembly Support

• Coordinate with production, machining, fabrication, assembly, purchase, and quality departments.
• Resolve design-related technical issues arising during manufacturing and machine assembly.
• Provide clarification on drawings, tolerances, materials, and assembly procedures.
• Conduct design reviews and support machine trials, testing, and commissioning as required.

E. Research, Testing & Continuous Improvement

• Study new technologies, industry developments, and innovative solutions in yarn manufacturing machinery.
• Conduct design calculations and technical feasibility assessments.
• Analyze machine performance, identify root causes of mechanical failures, and implement corrective actions.
• Incorporate feedback from customers, service engineers, and production teams into design improvements.

F. Team Coordination & Leadership

• Guide junior design engineers and CAD designers in preparing accurate engineering drawings and models.
• Review design outputs to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with company standards.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of design projects.
• Support project planning, design scheduling, and timely release of engineering documents.
• 3. Required Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of mechanical design and machine design principles.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Experience in designing industrial machinery, rotating assemblies, transmission systems, and mechanical structures.
• Knowledge of GD&T, fits and tolerances, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of machining, fabrication, casting, sheet metal, and assembly processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and perform basic mechanical design calculations.
• Knowledge of BOM preparation, drawing revision control, and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with bearings, gears, shafts, couplings, belts, pulleys, motors, and drive systems.
• Knowledge of textile or yarn manufacturing machinery will be an added advantage.

5. Desired Candidate ProfileThe candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, a practical approach to machine design, and excellent coordination skills. The ability to work independently, manage multiple design assignments, and deliver technically sound solutions within defined timelines is essential.

Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience in textile machinery, yarn manufacturing equipment, spinning machinery, winding machinery, or other industrial machine manufacturing industries will be preferred.
