Kitchen Helper

About the Role

We are looking for a Kitchen Helper / Commis 3 to support our kitchen team in the day-to-day preparation and smooth operation of our 100% vegetarian Continental and Chinese kitchen.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is hardworking, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Commis 1 and other kitchen staff with daily food preparation.
• Handle basic preparation such as washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, and portioning vegetables and other ingredients.
• Prepare and organize mise en place before service.
• Assist with preparation of sauces, gravies, noodles, rice, pasta, starters, and other menu items as instructed.
• Support the chef during busy service hours and help ensure orders are prepared on time.
• Follow instructions and standardized recipes provided by the senior chef.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and workstations.
• Wash and clean basic kitchen utensils and equipment as required.
• Store ingredients properly and follow FIFO practices.
• Help receive, organize, and store kitchen supplies.
• Minimize food wastage and use ingredients responsibly.
• Assist with closing and opening duties of the kitchen.
• Maintain proper personal hygiene and follow food safety practices.
• Take responsibility for completing assigned tasks properly and on time.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper, Commis 3, or similar kitchen role is preferred.
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations.
• Willingness to learn Continental and Chinese cooking.
• Ability to follow instructions carefully.
• Physically fit and comfortable working for extended periods in a busy kitchen.
• Punctual, disciplined, and reliable.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Prior experience in a café, QSR, restaurant, or cloud kitchen will be an advantage.
