Job Description

Job SummaryThe Retail Store Manager is responsible for the overall management of store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, achievement of sales targets, efficient inventory management, team leadership, and compliance with company policies. The role focuses on driving profitability, operational excellence, and delivering a superior shopping experience.

  • Key Responsibilities1. Store OperationsOversee the day-to-day operations of the store.
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
  • Monitor opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • 2. Sales & Business GrowthAchieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Drive sales through promotions, upselling, cross-selling, and customer engagement.
  • Analyze sales reports and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Monitor key retail metrics such as conversion rate, average bill value, and customer footfall.
  • 3. Customer ServiceDeliver exceptional customer service standards.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.
  • Build long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvement initiatives.
  • 4. Inventory & Stock ManagementMaintain optimum inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock movement, replenishment, and stock availability.
  • Conduct periodic stock audits and cycle counts.
  • Minimize stock loss, wastage, damages, and pilferage.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams.
  • 5. Team ManagementRecruit, train, mentor, and supervise store staff.
  • Prepare duty rosters and manage attendance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and high-performing work environment.
  • 6. Financial ManagementMonitor store profitability and expenses.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, billing, banking, and daily reconciliation.
  • Verify petty cash and store expenses.
  • Reduce operational costs without affecting customer service.
  • 7. Visual MerchandisingEnsure products are displayed according to merchandising standards.
  • Plan promotional displays and seasonal layouts.
  • Maintain proper signage, pricing, and shelf presentation.
  • 8. Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with labour laws, food safety standards (where applicable), fire safety, and health regulations.
  • Maintain all statutory licenses and records.
  • Ensure workplace safety and security for employees and customers.
  • 9. Reporting & MISPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly business reports.
  • Monitor KPIs and submit operational reports to management.
  • Analyze sales, shrinkage, inventory, and staff productivity.
  • QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • MBA is an added advantage.
