Technical Documentation Engineer (Mechanical)

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a flair for clear communication to create user manuals, operation guides, and training material for the machines we sell to clients. You will turn complex engineering details into simple, accurate, and visually clear documents that help customers operate and maintain our machines safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop user manuals, operator guides, quick-start guides, and maintenance manuals for each machine model
• Work closely with the design, production, and service teams to understand machine functions, specifications, and operating procedures
• Study machine drawings, 3D CAD models, and BOMs to create exploded views, part diagrams, and step-by-step illustrations
• Document safe operating procedures, warnings, cautions, and emergency instructions in line with applicable safety standards
• Write troubleshooting guides, error-code lists, and routine maintenance schedules
• Prepare installation and commissioning instructions for field and service teams
• Create supporting material such as instructional videos, animations, QR-linked guides, and training decks for client onboarding
• Test procedures on the actual machine to verify that every step is accurate and easy to follow
• Gather feedback from customers and service engineers and update manuals regularly
• Maintain version control and a central library of all manuals and documents
• Prepare documentation in multiple formats (print and digital) and, where needed, in regional languages (Hindi, Marathi, etc.)
• Ensure documents meet relevant standards such as ISO 12100 (machinery safety), IEC/ISO 82079-1 (instructions for use), and CE/BIS requirements where applicable
• Required QualificationsB.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
• Good understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics/hydraulics, and basic electrical/automation concepts
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong ability to explain technical topics simply
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Fusion 360 or similar)
• Proficiency in MS Office; working knowledge of Adobe tools (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or similar
• Preferred SkillsExperience in technical writing or documentation for industrial machinery
• Knowledge of documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or Visio
• Basic video editing and 3D animation skills (e.g., Camtasia, Blender, SolidWorks Composer)
• Familiarity with safety standards and risk assessment
• Experience with service, installation, or commissioning of machines
