Job Summary

The Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for supervising day-to-day fabrication activities, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily fabrication activities including cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, assembly, and finishing.
• Read and understand fabrication drawings, GA drawings, shop drawings, and welding details.
• Allocate work to welders, fitters, helpers, and other fabrication personnel.
• Plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for daily production.
• Monitor fabrication work to ensure compliance with drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and project specifications.
• Coordinate with the Production, QC/QA, Design, Stores, and Maintenance teams.
• Inspect fit-up, welding, dimensions, alignment, and overall workmanship before handing over to QC.
• Ensure welding procedures, WPS/PQR requirements, and approved welding consumables are followed where applicable.
• Monitor daily production targets and ensure work is completed within the planned schedule.
• Identify fabrication problems and coordinate corrective actions.
• Minimize material wastage, rework, and production delays.
• Maintain daily production reports, manpower records, material consumption, and job-progress reports.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of fabrication machines, welding machines, cutting equipment, tools, and lifting equipment.
• Ensure workers follow PPE requirements, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Conduct toolbox talks and promote safe working practices.
• Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards in the fabrication area.
• Train and guide workers on proper fabrication methods and safe working practices.
• Coordinate inspection activities with the QC/QA team and resolve quality issues.
• Report production progress, manpower requirements, material shortages, and technical issues to management.

Required Qualifications        

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, or a related field.
• Fresher & 1 to 2– years of experience in fabrication supervision, preferably in a structural steel, piping, equipment, or engineering fabrication company.
• Good knowledge of fabrication processes, welding methods, and material handling.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of MS/SS materials, welding consumables, cutting processes, fit-up, and dimensional inspection.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to prepare production reports.

Required Skills

·      Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and technical drafting.

·      Willingness to visit suppliers and vendors as required.

·      Experience with drawing submission and document coordination.

·      Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

·          Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances, welding symbols, sectional views, and material specifications.

·          Good mathematical and measurement skills.

·          Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

·          Ability to manage multiple drawings and revisions.

·          Good communication and coordination skills.

·          Ability to work effectively under project deadlines.

Working Conditions

The position involves working primarily in a fabrication workshop and may require standing for extended periods, supervising hot-work activities, and coordinating material movement. Proper PPE and compliance with all safety procedures are mandatory.
