Roles & Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation & Quality Control

• Dial in espresso by adjusting grind size, dose weight, and extraction times.
• Steam and texture milk to proper temperatures for lattes and cappuccinos.
• Follow standard recipes to prepare hot, cold, and specialty drinks consistently.
• Craft manual brews using pour-over, Chemex, or French press methods.
• Maintain quality control by tasting espresso shots throughout the shift. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Customer Service & Order Management

• Greet customers warmly as they enter the shop.
• Explain menu options and answer dietary or ingredient questions.
• Operate POS system to take orders and accurately process payments.
• Upsell menu items like seasonal drinks, pastries, and whole-bean coffee.
• Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and a positive attitude.

Cleanliness & Maintenance

• Clean brewing equipment including espresso heads, wands, and grinders.
• Sanitize workstations, countertops, and customer seating areas frequently.
• Follow health and safety guidelines regarding food handling and sanitation.
• Restock essential inventory like cups, lids, milks, and syrups.
• Complete opening/closing duties such as backflashing machines and emptying trash. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Previous barista or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders.
• Pace: Ability to stay calm and work efficiently during high-volume morning rushes.
• Communication: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility: Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 15 kg (30 lbs).
