Job Title: Senior Java Developer / Technical Lead | Part-time | Remote

Hours: About 12 hours per week (around 2 hours/day), flexible timing

Experience: 8+ years in Java backend development

Pay: ₹35,000 – ₹40,000 per month

About the role:

We are building a new travel platform – a premium holiday website plus a marketplace for travel agents. We already have an existing Java (Spring Boot) software with a designed PostgreSQL database and a Next.js frontend, running on Hetzner Cloud. The new platform will be built on top of it. We need a senior expert to take ownership of the full technical side – backend, servers and code quality – and guide our developers.

Note: This role is for our new travel-tech venture. Company and project details will be shared on the call.

What you will do:

- Understand the existing Spring Boot backend and PostgreSQL database

- Review the existing code; find and fix bugs, performance and

 security issues

- Extend the database for new modules safely (Flyway migrations),

 without breaking existing data

- Guide our Java developer: plan weekly tasks, review every pull

 request, solve blockers

- Review our Next.js developer's work and API integration

- Manage servers and deployment (Hetzner Cloud): CI/CD, SSL, CDN,

 backups, monitoring

- Manage GitHub repositories, branches and team access

- Plan upcoming modules: agent login, lead distribution, wallet, commission, payments and payouts

- Help hire our developers (Java backend and Next.js frontend): prepare technical tests and assignments, take interviews, review assignments and recommend the right candidates

- Share a short weekly progress update with the founder in simple language

Must have:

- 8+ years of Java backend development

- Spring Boot, JPA / Hibernate, REST APIs

- Strong PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, query optimisation, migrations

- Experience taking over an existing codebase, improving it and extending it

- Experience leading developers, doing code reviews and interviewing developer candidates

- Server deployment on Hetzner or any Linux VPS (DigitalOcean / AWS EC2 experience is also fine), Docker, Nginx, CI/CD (GitHub Actions or

 similar)

- Can explain technical decisions clearly to a non-technical founder

Good to have:

- Next.js / React knowledge (to review frontend work)

- Payment gateway integration (e.g. Razorpay)

- Marketplace, travel or booking platform experience

Working style:

- Flexible hours; one short daily call (evenings are fine)

- Long-term role – hours can increase as the platform grows
