Operations Manager

About the Role

M S Steel is a primary distributor of galvanized steel coil (GP/GPSP) for JSW Steel and AMNS, moving 8,000+ MT every month across Delhi NCR, UP, Haryana, and Punjab. We are looking for a sharp Operations Manager to own day-to-day dispatch, inventory, and cost control across our locations. This is a hands-on role for someone who can keep a high-volume trading operation running tight and clean, and who can spot where money is leaking before anyone else does.

• Key Responsibilities
• Dispatch management: Plan and oversee daily loading, dispatch, and delivery of coil to customers across NCR and the wider North India belt; coordinate transporters, weighbridge, and gate documentation to ensure on-time, error-free dispatch.
• Inventory control: Track stock movement from purchase to sale across grades and SKUs; reconcile physical stock with system records; flag aging inventory and grade mismatches early.
• Cost reduction: Identify and act on cost-saving opportunities across freight, handling, godown operations, and material movement; negotiate transport rates and improve turnaround to reduce per-MT operating cost.
• MIS & reporting: Maintain daily dispatch, stock, and dispatch-vs-order MIS in Excel; produce clean reports for management on volumes, pending orders, and operational bottlenecks.
• Coordination: Act as the link between sales, accounts, warehouse staff, and transporters so orders move smoothly from confirmation to delivery.
• Process discipline: Keep documentation (invoices, e-way bills, delivery proof) accurate and complete; standardize operating procedures across branches.
• Requirements
• Industry knowledge:

Working knowledge of the steel trade — preferably flat products (GP/GPSP/coil). Understanding of grades, weights, and how coil moves through a distribution business is a strong plus.

• Sharp and detail-oriented:

Quick to catch errors, mismatches, and cost leaks; thinks on their feet under daily operational pressure.

• Dispatch experience:

Proven ability to handle high-volume dispatches, transporter coordination, and delivery scheduling.

• Strong Excel skills:

Comfortable with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and building/maintaining daily MIS reports.

• Good soft skills:

Strong communicator who can manage staff, transporters, and customers professionally and keep a calm, solutions-first attitude.

• Education:

Graduate; preference for candidates with experience in steel, metals, or industrial distribution.
