Research Analyst

We are looking for a Research Analyst who is passionate about financial markets, mutual funds, data analysis and investment research. The candidate will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research on mutual funds and financial markets, tracking fund performance, analysing portfolios, preparing research reports and providing data-driven insights to support the company's investment research and client-servicing activities. This is a research-focused role and not a pure sales position. Key Responsibilities 1. Mutual Fund Research • Analyse mutual funds across equity, debt, hybrid, international and other categories. • Compare funds based on returns, risk, consistency, volatility and performance across different market cycles. • Study fund manager performance, investment strategy and portfolio positioning. • Analyse portfolio holdings, sector allocation, market-cap allocation and asset allocation. • Track expense ratios, AUM, fund flows and other relevant parameters. 2. Market Research • Track Indian and global financial markets. • Monitor macroeconomic developments, interest rates, inflation, currency movements and major market events. • Study sector trends, market cycles and emerging investment themes. • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly market updates. • Identify important developments that may impact mutual funds and investor portfolios. 3. Data Analysis & Excel • Collect, clean and analyse financial and mutual fund data. • Create Excel-based research models, trackers and dashboards. • Prepare performance comparison sheets and portfolio analysis. • Use advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, Pivot Tables and conditional formulas. • Maintain accurate and updated research databases.4. Research Reports & Presentation • Prepare detailed research notes and investment reports. • Create fund comparison reports and portfolio review reports. • Convert complex financial information into simple and understandable insights. • Prepare presentations and reports for internal teams and management. • Support the creation of educational financial content. 5. Portfolio Monitoring • Monitor existing mutual fund portfolios and track performance. • Identify significant changes in fund performance, portfolio allocation or fund management. • Track portfolio concentration and diversification. • Prepare periodic portfolio review reports. • Highlight important observations for further review by the senior team. 6. Research Process Development • Develop systematic frameworks for evaluating mutual funds. • Maintain research trackers and databases. • Improve existing research methodologies and reporting formats. • Automate repetitive research and reporting tasks wherever possible. • Maintain proper documentation of research findings.
