Quality Control Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Fabric & Raw Material Quality

• Inspect and approve incoming fabrics (base, printed, embroidered, etc.), linings, trims, embroidery materials and other raw/ packaging materials against approved specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and document defects, irregularities and deviations, and coordinate corrective measures where possible.

2. Final Product Inspection & Dispatch Approval

• Conduct final inspections of finished products before dispatch, ensuring they meet Surmaye’s quality standards.
• Establish and implement product-specific inspection checklists covering various aspects such as measurements, workmanship, colour, finish, embellishments, stains, loose threads, labelling, tagging, and overall presentation.
• Hold, reject or escalate products that do not meet the prescribed quality benchmarks, and verify that rework is completed satisfactorily before release.

3. Quality Systems & Process Improvement

• Develop, maintain and continuously refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality benchmarks and inspection protocols across product categories and manufacturing processes.
• Establish clear defect classifications, acceptance criteria and escalation mechanisms, and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Analyse recurring defects and identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
• Work with internal team/ vendors to establish root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions.

4. Team Management & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Lead, guide and train the QC team, ensuring clear responsibilities, consistent inspection practices and timely execution.
• Coordinate closely with production, merchandising, design and dispatch teams to resolve quality issues without compromising product standards.
• Provide consolidated updates, and escalate critical quality concerns/ risks and recommended action plans to leadership. 

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience in in quality control within the apparel or textile industry. Experience with premium, craft-led or design-focused fashion brands is a strong advantage.
• A degree or diploma in Fashion Technology, Textile Technology, Apparel Manufacturing or a related discipline is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, stitching, finishing and textile defects.
• Experience handling delicate fabrics, premium garments, embroidery, embellishments and other detail-intensive products.
• A keen eye for detail and a systematic approach to quality management.
• Strong communication, coordination, problem solving and teamwork/ management skills.
