Job Description
A Food and Beverage (F&B) steward works to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth operational flow in dining rooms, banquets, and kitchens.
The role generally combines guest service support with back-of-house sanitation. Depending on the establishment (such as a hotel, restaurant, or cruise line), the specific duties fall into a few key areas:
Pre-Service Preparation (Mise-en-Place)
- Table Setup: Arranging tables and chairs, laying clean table cloths, and placing polished cutlery, glassware, and napkins.
- Station Stocking: Replenishing side stations with clean trays, menus, condiments, and straws.
- Sanitation Checks: Cleaning and inspecting dining areas and equipment to meet health and safety standards.
