Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, result-oriented, and technically competent Business Development Engineer to strengthen our business development function. The role extends beyond conventional marketing and tendering and requires the individual to actively pursue opportunities, coordinate with clients and government authorities, resolve technical and administrative issues, and ensure that business opportunities are converted into successful project awards.

The candidate will work directly under the Management and will be expected to take ownership of assignments, demonstrate exceptional perseverance, and consistently go the extra mile to achieve organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in Infrastructure, Water Supply, Sewerage, Storm Water Drainage, Pumping Stations, MEP and EPC sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Government Departments, Municipal Corporations, Consultants, PSUs and Private Clients.
  • Track upcoming tenders, projects and procurement opportunities.
  • Generate leads and convert them into business opportunities.

2. Tender & Proposal Management

  • Coordinate preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOI), PQ documents, tenders and technical proposals.
  • Review tender conditions and identify technical, commercial and contractual risks.
  • Coordinate with estimation, engineering and finance teams for bid preparation.
  • Ensure timely submission of bids.

3. Technical & Administrative Follow-up

  • Pursue pending technical approvals and administrative clearances.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, statutory authorities and OEMs.
  • Resolve project-related issues through continuous follow-up and effective communication.
  • Assist management in obtaining approvals, permissions and contractual decisions.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain regular interaction with senior officials.
  • Attend meetings, presentations and technical discussions.
  • Represent the company professionally before clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare meeting notes and ensure timely follow-up.

5. Strategic Support to Management

  • Work directly with the Management on strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare presentations, reports and business analyses.
  • Assist in negotiation meetings.
  • Provide regular MIS and status updates.

6. Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities and upcoming projects.
  • Maintain database of clients, consultants and key decision makers.
  • Identify strategic partnerships and Joint Venture opportunities.


Desired Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
  • Ability to understand tender documents and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of EPC/Infrastructure projects.
  • Good report writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • MBA (Marketing/Operations) will be an added advantage.


Experience

  • 3–8 years of experience in Business Development, Tendering, Project Coordination or Infrastructure/EPC Projects.
  • Experience with Government Departments, Municipal Corporations, Water Supply, Sewerage or Storm Water projects will be preferred.
