ABOUT KCEPL

Kanekar Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. (KCEPL) is a Mumbai-headquartered Electrical & Instrumentation engineering company established in 2001, with more than two decades of experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, instrumentation, control panels, switchgear services and turnkey engineering solutions. With an annual turnover in the range of ₹15–20 crore, KCEPL combines the responsiveness and accessibility of an owner-driven engineering business with a substantial track record of executing mission-critical industrial projects for large public-sector, infrastructure and private-sector organisations.

The Company's corporate office is located at Dahisar West, Mumbai, close to Dahisar West Railway Station, while its manufacturing operations are supported by a dedicated approximately 10,000 sq. ft. control-panel manufacturing facility at Kaman, Vasai. This in-house manufacturing capability allows KCEPL to connect business development, engineering, panel building, integration, testing, project execution and after-sales support within a closely coordinated operating structure. The Company has built and supplied PLC, MCC, PCC, VFD and automation panels and has undertaken electrical, control and instrumentation assignments across a wide spectrum of industrial applications.

KCEPL's core strength lies in its ability to operate across the complete E&I ecosystem. Its portfolio includes Industrial Process Automation using PLC, SCADA, DCS, VFD and related control technologies; Electrical & Instrumentation contracting; panel manufacturing; switchgear, protection and retrofit solutions; specialised maintenance and AMC services; and, more recently, Rooftop and C&I Solar EPC and emerging Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions. The Company has longstanding experience working with technology ecosystems associated with globally recognised principals such as Emerson, Schneider Electric, GE/Alstom, Danfoss/Vacon and ABB.

Its project credentials span some of India's most demanding industrial and infrastructure environments. KCEPL's documented project portfolio includes assignments for or connected with organisations such as Indian Oil, BPCL, HPCL, ONGC, GAIL, Indian Railways, L&T, BHEL, Tata Steel, JSW, NPCIL, Mumbai municipal infrastructure, JNPT/DP World, Mahagenco, Mahatransco, Deepak Fertilisers, RCF and Waaree, among others. The work covers applications ranging from pipeline and terminal automation, water and wastewater systems, substation automation and power SCADA to process automation, industrial control systems, switchgear, VFD applications and complete E&I packages.

KCEPL's capabilities are not confined to the domestic market. The Company's project records include international execution and supplies, including automation or panel-related work associated with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bangladesh, Canada and the United States. Its catalogue also records panel exports to foreign countries, including CSA-certified supplies to Canada. This international exposure complements a broad domestic footprint and demonstrates the Company's ability to work across different industrial environments, project requirements and customer standards.

For a Business Development professional, KCEPL therefore offers exposure to far more than a single product line. The role sits within a business that brings together engineering, manufacturing, project execution, industrial technology, services and renewable energy. A candidate can engage with customers ranging from commercial solar prospects to large industrial organisations while learning how opportunities are converted from an initial enquiry into proposals, technical coordination, commercial negotiation, manufacturing or project execution, and long-term customer relationships. The Company's continuing expansion into Solar EPC and IIoT further creates scope for participating in the development of newer business verticals alongside its established E&I and automation operations.

Website: https://www.kceautomation.com/

The Company operates across:

• Industrial Process Automation – PLC, SCADA, VFD and automation systems

• Electrical & Instrumentation Contracting for industrial and commercial projects

• Manufacturing of PCC, MCC, VFD and Automation Panels

• Rooftop and C&I Solar EPC

• Switchgear, Protection and Retrofit Solutions

• Emerging Industrial IoT (IIoT) Solutions

ROLE OVERVIEW

The candidate will work under the guidance of the Business Development Manager and Company Management and support business development across KCEPL's Solar, Electrical, Automation and IIoT verticals.

This is a sales and client-management role and will include field-sales activities for approximately half of the working week.

The immediate day-to-day focus will primarily be on Solar Business Development, including system sizing, quotation preparation, lead generation, client communication, follow-ups and end-to-end management of prospective customers.

Detailed technical engineering is not part of the role. Necessary basic product knowledge and training will be provided, with the Company's technical team supporting technical requirements.

ROLE HIERARCHY

The responsibilities of the role should be understood in the following broad hierarchy:

Solar Business Development shall constitute the principal day-to-day workload → Field Sales shall constitute a substantial part of the working week → KCEPL's other business verticals shall form the broader Business Development remit → Management may assign non-engineering responsibilities across operations, business development strategy, finance and other functions contributing to business development outcomes → Detailed technical engineering shall remain outside the scope of the role and shall be supported by the Company's technical team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. SOLAR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

• Generate and develop new solar leads through field sales, networking, references and other sales channels.

• Communicate with prospective customers and understand their preliminary requirements.

• Collect electricity bills, consumption data, available installation-area information and other inputs required for preliminary system sizing.

• Carry out preliminary solar-system sizing using Company-approved methods and formats after training.

• Prepare quotations and commercial proposals using KCEPL's prescribed templates.

• Coordinate internally for pricing, technical inputs and project-specific requirements.

• Present and explain proposals to customers from a commercial perspective.

• Conduct regular follow-ups, address customer queries and coordinate technical clarifications wherever required.

• Support commercial negotiations and work towards conversion of leads into confirmed orders.

• Handle customer communication and coordination throughout the sales cycle.

2. FIELD SALES & LEAD GENERATION

Field sales will constitute an important part of the role, ordinarily involving approximately half of the working week.

Activities will include:

• Prospecting and identifying potential customers

• Customer visits and meetings

• Networking and developing business contacts

• Lead generation and qualification

• Identifying upcoming projects and requirements

• Developing referral and channel relationships

• Following up with prospective customers

• Supporting negotiations and sales closure

3. CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

• Maintain regular communication with prospective and existing customers.

• Manage leads from initial enquiry through quotation, follow-up and closure.

• Maintain organised records of leads, quotations, meetings and follow-ups.

• Develop relationships with customers for repeat business and referrals.

• Act as a commercial coordination point between customers, management and the Company's technical/project teams.

4. INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION & ELECTRICAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

The candidate will also progressively support business development for KCEPL's Industrial Automation and Electrical & Instrumentation businesses.

Responsibilities will include:

• Identifying prospective industrial and commercial customers

• Generating enquiries and RFQs

• Establishing contact with relevant decision-makers

• Coordinating customer meetings and site visits

• Coordinating quotation and proposal preparation

• Following up on submitted offers

• Supporting commercial negotiations and order closure

• Developing long-term customer and channel relationships

The candidate will receive basic product and application knowledge required for customer interaction. Detailed engineering, system design and other specialised technical activities will be handled by KCEPL's technical team.

5. IIoT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

As KCEPL develops its Industrial IoT portfolio, the candidate may also support:

• Lead generation and prospecting

• Customer communication

• Identification of potential applications

• Coordination of demonstrations and technical meetings

• Proposal follow-up

• Commercial coordination and sales development

6. ADDITIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is not intended to be a purely sales-management role.

In addition to the sales, client-management and business-development responsibilities described above, the candidate may be assigned other non-engineering responsibilities that directly or indirectly contribute to the Company's business development objectives.

Depending upon the Company's requirements, these may include activities relating to:

• Business operations and operational coordination

• Business development strategy and planning

• Market and commercial research

• Finance-related coordination and commercial activities

• Business analysis and internal planning

• Development and implementation of business processes

• Coordination of new business initiatives

• Support for the development of new business verticals

• Commercial and management coordination

• Strategic projects and special assignments

• Any other non-engineering activity which, in the opinion of management, can contribute to or impact business development outcomes

Such responsibilities may evolve depending upon the Company's business requirements and opportunities.

The candidate will be expected to undertake such assignments with the same priority and professional responsibility as the sales-related functions of the role and to complete them within the reasonable time-frames communicated by management.

While assignments may be time-bound and require disciplined execution, the Company does not intend to prescribe unreasonably or exceedingly short time-frames for their completion.

Accordingly, the role should be understood as a broader Business Development position, involving sales as a major responsibility while also providing exposure to operations, strategy, commercial/financial coordination and other management functions that contribute towards the Company's overall business development outcomes.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are looking for a candidate who is:

• Comfortable with field sales and customer meetings

• Confident in verbal and written communication

• Interested in sales, networking and relationship building

• Persistent and disciplined with customer follow-ups

• Comfortable working with quotations, spreadsheets and basic calculations

• Willing to learn basic Solar, Electrical and Automation product knowledge

• Organised in managing multiple leads and customers

• Capable of working under guidance while progressively taking independent responsibility

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Prior specialised engineering knowledge is not mandatory.

The Company will provide the basic product and application training necessary for the role. The candidate is expected to develop sufficient knowledge to communicate effectively with customers and understand their broad requirements.

Detailed system design, electrical engineering, PLC/SCADA programming, technical equipment selection and other specialised engineering activities will be supported by the Company's technical team.

SALARY & PERFORMANCE INCENTIVES

Fixed Salary: ₹30,000–₹40,000 per month

In addition to the fixed salary, the candidate will be eligible for performance-linked incentives on each successful sale, based on the applicable incentive structure of the Company.

The incentive structure is intended to substantially reward candidates who successfully generate opportunities, acquire customers, convert orders and contribute to business growth.

Accordingly, the candidate's total earnings can increase with successful sales performance and business generation.
