Job Description

An HR Recruiter in a recruitment agency acts as an external talent acquisition specialist who connects client companies with qualified job seekers. Unlike an in-house internal recruiter who hires only for one company, an agency recruiter balances client relationship management with high-volume candidate sourcing across multiple industries and companies.



Role Summary

The primary objective of an agency recruiter is to understand client hiring requirements, source top-tier talent, and guide candidates through the interview funnel to successfully fill vacancies. Because agencies often operate on a commission or success-fee basis, this role is highly fast-paced, target-driven, and sales-oriented.



Key Responsibilities



1. Client Intake & Requirement Gathering

  • Consulting with clients to define the ideal candidate profile, required skillsets, and salary benchmarks.
  • Analyzing job market trends to advise clients on realistic hiring timelines and compensation strategies.
  • Drafting and optimizing job postings to attract both active and passive job seekers.



2. Candidate Sourcing & Pipeline Building

  • Mining job boards and utilizing advanced boolean search strings on platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Headhunting passive talent who are not actively looking for work but fit client constraints.
  • Building deep talent pools within niche industries (e.g., tech, healthcare, finance) to rapidly fill future client mandates.



3. Screening & Interviewing

  • Reviewing high volumes of resumes to filter out unqualified applications.
  • Conducting initial phone/video screenings to assess technical competence, communication skills, and salary expectations.
  • Performing background checks, verifying employment eligibility, and checking professional references.



4. Candidate & Process Management

  • Pitching shortlisted profiles to client hiring managers with detailed evaluation notes.
  • Coordinating interview schedules and preparing candidates with tips about the client's interview style.
  • Managing the offer extension phase, including negotiating salaries and counter-offers to ensure successful placement.
