Accountant – General Guidelines

Professional Responsibilities

 Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

 Ensure all accounting entries are recorded correctly and on time.

 Follow company policies, accounting standards, and statutory regulations.

 Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

 Support management with financial reports and analysis.

Daily Accounting Practices

 Verify all invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers before posting.

 Record transactions in the accounting system promptly.

 Reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, and ledgers regularly.

 Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.

 Send sundry creditors and debtors details every month after bank update.

Compliance & Taxation

 Ensure timely sending data of GST returns, TDS returns, and other statutory compliances.

 Maintain proper records for audits and assessments.

 Verify and inform tax calculations and deductions before sending data.

 Stay updated with changes in accounting and tax laws.

Professional Conduct

 Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior.

 Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, auditors, and colleagues.

 Meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in all work.

 Continuously improve accounting knowledge and technical skills.

Software & Documentation

 Maintain proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, ERP systems, and MS Excel.

 Organize digital and physical records systematically.

 Ensure data backup and document security procedures are followed. 

 Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.

 Maintain separate files for documents like Purchase invoice, payment voucher, bank statements, company documents, tax payment receipts and others if required

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

 Accuracy of accounting records.

 Timely completion of reconciliations.

 Compliance with statutory deadlines.

 Quality and timeliness of financial reports.
