Engineering Manager-Solar EPC

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and technically strong Engineering Lead-Solar EPC to manage the complete technical lifecycle of rooftop solar projects from customer site surveys and technical proposal preparation to installation supervision, commissioning, and DISCOM coordination.

The ideal candidate should possess strong Solar EPC knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with customers, installation teams, vendors, and government authorities to ensure successful project execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Survey

  • Conduct residential, commercial, and industrial site surveys.
  • Assess roof condition, orientation, shading, and available installation area.
  • Verify electrical infrastructure including LT panel, transformer, DG integration, and earthing system.
  • Record all measurements, photographs, and technical observations.
  • Prepare detailed site survey reports.

2. Customer Interaction

  • Meet customers to understand their energy requirements.
  • Explain suitable solar solutions and system configurations.
  • Address customer technical queries.
  • Build strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.



3. Technical Presentations

  • Deliver technical presentations to customers, architects, consultants, builders, industries, and institutions.
  • Explain system design, energy generation estimates, ROI, and government policies.
  • Support the sales team during technical discussions.

4. Techno-Commercial Proposal Preparation

  • Prepare detailed techno-commercial proposals.
  • Design suitable solar system configurations.
  • Calculate expected energy generation.
  • Prepare financial analysis including ROI, payback period, and savings.
  • Customize proposals based on customer requirements.

5. Bill of Quantity (BOQ)

  • Prepare detailed project BOQs including:
  • Solar Modules
  • Inverters
  • Mounting Structures
  • DC/AC Cables
  • Earthing Materials
  • Lightning Protection
  • Junction Boxes
  • ACDB/DCDB
  • Safety Equipment
  • Etc.
  • Coordinate with procurement for material planning.



6. Cost Estimation

  • Estimate project costs accurately.
  • Prepare project budgets.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotations.
  • Optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
  • Support management during pricing decisions.

7. Installation Supervision

  • Supervise installation teams during project execution.
  • Ensure installation follows approved drawings and standards.
  • Monitor daily work progress.
  • Resolve site-related technical issues.
  • Coordinate material availability.
  • Ensure timely project completion.

8. Quality Inspection

  • Conduct quality inspections during all project stages.
  • Verify workmanship and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations.
  • Prepare quality inspection reports.
  • Identify and rectify non-conformities.

9. Commissioning & Documentation

  • Prepare commissioning checklists and documentation.
  • Coordinate system testing.
  • Verify inverter configuration and protection settings.
  • Assist during synchronization with the utility grid.
  • Prepare handover documents and customer training material.

10. DISCOM Liaison

  • Coordinate with DISCOM authorities for approvals.
  • Submit required documents for net metering.
  • Track application status.
  • Coordinate meter replacement and inspection.
  • Support project closure until final commissioning.

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Renewable Energy.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Solar EPC projects (Freshers with strong technical knowledge may also apply for junior positions).
  • Knowledge of rooftop solar system design and execution.
  • Familiarity with DISCOM processes and net metering regulations.
  • Understanding of electrical drawings, SLDs, and BOQs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of PVsyst is an added advantage.
