Mechanical Lead – Data Center Construction

Lead mechanical engineering activities for mission-critical data center construction projects, overseeing design implementation, installation, and commissioning of cooling systems, HVAC infrastructure, and building mechanical services.

Manage mechanical design coordination and review of construction documents including chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, hot/cold aisle containment, air distribution, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.

Ensure mechanical systems achieve required redundancy levels (N, N+1, 2N), comply with ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guidelines, TIA-942 standards, and meet client uptime requirements and energy efficiency targets.

Oversee contractor RFI responses, submittal reviews, and shop drawing approvals for chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, controls systems, and specialty mechanical equipment.

Direct field coordination between mechanical, electrical, and structural trades to resolve conflicts, ensure proper equipment access, and maintain construction schedule milestones.

Lead mechanical system startup, testing, and commissioning activities including water-side/air-side balancing, controls integration, capacity verification, and failure mode testing.

Monitor installation quality and compliance with specifications through regular site inspections, QA/QC reviews, and punch list management to ensure code compliance and operational readiness.

Collaborate with commissioning agents and design engineers on integrated systems testing, thermal mapping studies, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) validation for optimized cooling performance.

Develop and deliver O&M documentation, equipment training, and transition support to facility operations teams, ensuring long-term system reliability and maintainability.

Minimum 8-12 years of mechanical engineering experience with at least 5 years in data center or mission-critical facilities. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required;
