Assistant Manager - Data Migration and Azure Cloud Solutions

What you'll be doing  

This is a senior role, responsible for leading the design and implementation of a configuration-driven data migration framework on the Azure cloud platform. The data migration framework will be used across multiple client data migration engagements for the purpose of facilitating the transition of our clients' data from legacy ERP, HCM, or CRM systems to cloud-based solutions. 

The data migration framework will leverage Azure technologies including Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Spark, Python, and PowerBI. This framework will enable comprehensive data profiling to evaluate and pinpoint data quality concerns. It will facilitate the extraction of data from legacy systems, as well as its transformation and subsequent loading into the target system. Additionally, the framework will support both business and technical data reconciliation processes to confirm the successful migration of all data. 

The role will also focus on defining and implementing robust data modelling approaches (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support migration, including source-to-target mappings, staging models, and optimized target data structures. 

You will provide technical deep expertise in Azure Data Migration ETL Services, migration methodologies, data modelling techniques, technical leadership and delivery oversight of data migration implementations from India delivery center. Your focus would be to ensure quality in technical components, automation of reusable components and introducing best practices. 
 
Considered an expert in this space, you will collaborate with other stakeholders to define data migration goals, delivery timelines and success criteria’s. 
 
Roles & Responsibilities 

• Architect and govern scalable, manageable, and secure data migration ETL solutions that align with best practices 

• Lead the design and implementation of a robust data migration framework using Azure cloud technologies. 

• Mentor and lead a small team of engineers, promoting best practices in cloud data management and migration. 

• Engage with internal data migration teams as well as directly with clients to gather requirements, manage expectations, and deliver tailor-made solutions 

• Lead data migration technical delivery across Data Acquisition & Cleansing, Data Mapping & Transformation, Data Validation & Load, and finally reconciliations and reporting phases. 

• Define and implement data modelling standards including conceptual, logical, and physical models aligned to migration and target system needs 

• Design source-to-target mappings, staging schemas, and target data models to ensure data consistency and performance 

Mandatory skills: 

• Proven experience as an Azure Data Migration Specialist within enterprise scale environment. 

• Demonstrated experience of converting business requirements and use cases into technical solutions. 

• Deep knowledge of how to design, implement and optimize ETL processes, 
  conduct detailed data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical), including schema design and source-to-target mappings, design data warehouse, and design & build data pipelines in Data Factory/ Azure Synapse / Microsoft Fabric. 

• Strong understanding of data modelling concepts such as dimensional modelling (star/snowflake), normalization/denormalization, and canonical data models for migration 

• Hands-on experience working in complex data warehouse implementations using Azure SQL Data warehouse, Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Database. 

• The ability to lead and manage teams, and communicate effectively with clients, vendors and project leadership. 

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with a knack for distilling complex and/or technical problems in environments that are often ambiguous. 

• A proven ability to build resilient, tested data pipelines with data quality monitoring embedded (DataOps) 

• Knowledge of security best practices for data protection and compliance. 

• Experience of Data lake and Data warehousing solutions and architectures and low-level design principles 

• Comfortable in an Agile working environment and using Scrum project management. 

• Azure data engineering certification 

Desired skills: 

• ETL /ELT tool experience across Data Migration delivery phases  

• Experience implementing COTS or SaaS based applications, such as SAP, Oracle ERP or Microsoft Dynamics. 

• Experience with data modelling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER/Studio) and exposure to MDM or reference data modelling 

Qualification 

• Any Bachelors or Masters Degree 

• 8+ years of strong experience in Data migration ETL solutions
