Automobile Workshop Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and delegate tasks to workshop technicians to ensure the prompt and quality servicing of customer vehicles.
• Receive service requests from our customer relations team and allocate them to technicians for execution.
• Collaborate closely with the customer relations officer to address and resolve customer complaints or issues related to vehicle servicing.
• Supervise and monitor the activities of the workshop team, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Maintain regular communication with the customer relations officer to keep them updated on the progress of customer vehicles.
• Conduct final inspections of vehicle repairs before delivery.
• Handle the pick-up and delivery of customer vehicles and perform other official assignments.
• Coordinate test drives of vehicles both before and after repairs.
• Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as required to meet evolving business needs
• Work in coordination with the vendor manager to ensure the availability of necessary parts and verify their quality upon delivery. Additionally, organize the return of replaced parts to the vendor manager.
• Ensure that the workshop operates in full compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Report any compliance issues to the Operation Manager.
• Assist in the recruitment and training of technicians and other contractorsevaluate their performance, and provide constructive feedback for skill enhancement.
• Manage external contractors like painters, panel beaters and electricians, ensuring that their work aligns with company standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment, including tools and equipment. Implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Foster a collaborative team culture that promotes open communication, teamwork, and a strong customer-focused mindset.
• Provide technical assistance for complex vehicle diagnosis to the workshop team.
• Minimize recurring issues by closely supervising technicians and offering guidance.
• Create and maintain action plans for all vehicles in the workshop, providing regular updates.
• Ensure the maintenance and availability of tools and equipment, with a focus on improving work quality.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Technical Knowledge: Strong background in automotive systems, repair procedures, and diagnostics is crucial, often requiring previous experience as a technician.
• Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team effectively.
• Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot technical and operational challenges.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, customers, and suppliers.
• Organizational Skills: Strong planning, time management, and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant workshop management software, ERP systems, and standard office applications (MS Office).
