Established in 2015, Baniya Ki Dukan Private Limited (BKD) is a Delhi-based multi-brand grocery retailer with a growing network of more than 20 neighbourhood stores. BKD brings food, personal care, household and other everyday-use products together under one roof, with an emphasis on original products, competitive prices, dependable availability and convenient local shopping.

BKD is strengthening its systems, store standards, technology, people capability and operating controls as it expands. Each Store Manager is therefore expected to protect the trust of neighbourhood customers while building a disciplined, efficient and scalable store operation.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Store Manager owns the complete commercial, operational, customer, people and control performance of the assigned store. This is a visible, hands-on leadership role: the manager must lead by example, remain present on the shop floor, demonstrate the standards expected from others, take timely decisions within authority and step in personally when customer service, stock movement or peak-hour execution requires support.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

ACCOUNTABILITYWHAT THE STORE MANAGER IS EXPECTED TO DELIVERSales, Margin & Business Performance†Deliver daily, weekly and monthly sales targets; review category performance, customer footfall, basket opportunities, gross margin and controllable costs wherever data is available.

  • Execute approved promotions correctly and provide practical feedback on local demand, competition, pricing and products customers request but cannot find.Customer Experience & Service Recovery• Ensure Greeting , prompt, respectful and knowledgeable service, accurate price communication, manageable billing queues and reliable home-delivery execution where applicable.
  • Personally handle significant complaints, resolve issues within authority and use recurring feedback to correct the underlying process or behaviour.Daily Store Operations• Ensure disciplined opening and closing, customer readiness, adequate shift coverage, functional POS/equipment, clean trading and storage areas, and completion of operating checklists.
  • Remain visible across the store, inspect actual execution, assign clear owners and deadlines, and follow through until each critical task is closed.Inventory, Availability & Loss Prevention• Supervise goods receipt, invoice/GRN verification, storage, replenishment, cycle counts, full stock counts, returns and documented inter-store transfers.
  • Control stock-outs, shrinkage, pilferage, expiry, damage and wastage; ensure FIFO/FEFO where relevant and investigate material variances promptly.Cash, Billing & Financial Discipline• Ensure every sale is billed through the approved system and review daily cash, card, UPI, discount, refund, cancellation, petty-cash and deposit controls.
  • Investigate variances immediately, prevent unauthorised transactions and report suspected fraud, theft, manipulation or serious control failure.

ACCOUNTABILITY WHAT THE STORE MANAGER IS EXPECTED TO DELIVERPeople Leadership, Learning & Discipline

  • Lead the Team Leader(s), Store Keeper and frontline team through clear rosters, daily briefings and task allocation; provide structured induction, on-the-job training, task demonstrations, coaching and ongoing mentoring until employees can perform independently.
  • Lead by example in punctuality, integrity, grooming, customer service, cleanliness, safe working and hands-on support; resolve day-to-day employee/promoter conflicts impartially through listening, mediation, agreed actions and follow-up, escalating serious or repeated matters.
  • Apply one BKD standard to employees and all third-party brand/product promoters: the same attendance, grooming, conduct, customer service, safety, merchandising and discipline rules apply regardless of the employing company.Merchandising, Hygiene, Safety & Asset Care• Maintain product availability, planogram/display standards, correct labels, clear aisles, clean shelves, organised storage and timely removal of damaged or expired items.
  • Protect store assets and implement communicated requirements for food/fire safety, CCTV/security, statutory displays, workplace conduct, maintenance liasoning services and emergency response.MIS, Compliance & Continuous Improvement• Submit accurate daily/weekly reports on sales, cash, inventory, stock-outs, shrinkage, wastage, attendance, complaints, maintenance, incidents and corrective actions.
  • Use POS, inventory and Excel/MIS data to identify root causes, improve productivity and give management clear solutions rather than only reporting problems.DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

Within approved policies and limits, the Store Manager may deploy staff, prepare rosters, assign work, resolve routine customer issues, validate stock receipt discrepancies, initiate replenishment and maintenance requests, recommend recognition or corrective action, stop unsafe/irregular practices and escalate material business, people, safety or fraud risks. Delegation does not remove the manager's final accountability for store results.

Education - MandatoryGraduate in any discipline from a recognised university/institution. Commerce, Business Administration or Retail Management is preferred; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.Experience5-8 years in retail, including at least 2 years supervising a store/unit and frontline employees. Grocery, supermarket, FMCG, convenience or value-retail experience is strongly preferred.Technical KnowledgePractical knowledge of POS/billing, inventory and GRN processes, stock counts, cash reconciliation, shrinkage/expiry control, merchandising, basic retail mathematics, MS Excel and MIS reporting.CommunicationStrong Hindi and functional written/spoken English. Must communicate firmly and respectfully with customers, store employees, management, vendors and support functions.Required BehavioursLeads by example; demonstrates ownership, integrity, customer focus, commercial awareness, on-the-job coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, practical judgement, composure and disciplined follow-through.PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS

. Must be physically able to remain active on the shop floor: stand and walk for extended periods, bend, reach, and work across customer and stockroom areas.

. Must be able to climb store stairs and approved step ladders safely and assist with loading/unloading or movement of cartons and stock within company safe- handling limits; equipment or team assistance must be used for heavier items.

. Must be available for rostered retail hours, weekends, holidays and festival/peak periods, subject to company policy and applicable law.
