Quality Control Engineer MECHNAICAL

A Fabrication and Welding Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying that all welded structures, components, and fabricated assemblies strictly comply with engineering drawings, client specifications, and industrial codes.

Job Overview & Summary

The QC Engineer bridges the gap between production and engineering, ensuring zero-defect manufacturing from raw material intake through final non-destructive testing (NDT) and handover documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld Inspection & Monitoring: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welded joints, monitor welding parameters (voltage, amperage, travel speed), and check preheat/interpass temperatures.
• Code & Standard Compliance: Ensure adherence to major industrial codes such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and ISO 3834. [1]
• WPS & Welder Verification: Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• NDT Coordination: Schedule, coordinate, and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities—including VT, UT, RT, MPI, and LPT—along with Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT).]
• Material Traceability: Inspect incoming raw materials, consumables, and filler metals, verifying mill test certificates and heat numbers.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), track weld logs, manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), and compile as-built turnover packages.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience: 3 to 7 years of hands-on quality control experience within heavy steel fabrication, piping, or structural manufacturing environments.
