Job Description

Job Title: Human Resources Manager (Non-IT Sector)

Location: Chennai

Department: Human Resources

Reporting To: Director


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all HR functions in a non-IT environment such as manufacturing, construction, engineering, retail, logistics, or similar industries. The role requires strong expertise in workforce management, statutory compliance, industrial relations, and end-to-end HR operations.

Key Responsibilities


1. HR Operations & Strategy

Develop and implement HR policies aligned with business objectives

Oversee end-to-end HR operations including onboarding, exits, and employee lifecycle management

Maintain and improve HR systems, processes, and documentation


2. Recruitment & Staffing

Manage manpower planning in coordination with department heads

Handle recruitment for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workforce

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and labour vendors where applicable


3. Employee Relations

Address employee grievances and ensure timely resolution

Maintain healthy employee relations and workplace discipline

Support conflict resolution and disciplinary actions when required


4. Statutory Compliance

Ensure compliance with labour laws (PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus, Shops & Establishment Act, etc.)

Maintain statutory registers and coordinate audits/inspections

Liaise with government authorities when required


5. Attendance, Payroll & Benefits

Supervise attendance tracking and payroll processing

Ensure timely salary disbursement and statutory deductions

Manage employee benefits and welfare schemes


6. Performance Management

Implement performance appraisal systems

Support department heads in evaluating employee performance

Identify training and development needs

7. Training & Development

Conduct induction and orientation programs

Organize skill development and safety training programs (especially for site/field staff)

8. Industrial Relations (If applicable)

Handle union-related matters (if applicable in industry)

Ensure smooth coordination between management and workforce

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources / Business Administration / Social Work

5–10 years of HR experience in non-IT industries (manufacturing/construction/logistics/etc.)

Strong knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance

Experience in handling large workforce (blue-collar + white-collar)

Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to handle pressure and conflict situations

Preferred Skills

Experience in ERP/HRMS systems

Exposure to contractor labour management

Strong analytical and reporting skills

Leadership and team management experience
