Job Summary

The CNC Laser Machine Programmer cum Operator creates CNC programs, sets up laser cutting machines, operates equipment safely, monitors production quality, and performs routine maintenance to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

· Create and modify CNC laser cutting programs using CAD/CAM software.

· Set up CNC laser machines, including material loading and machine parameter configuration.

· Operate laser cutting machines to produce components according to specifications.

· Select appropriate cutting parameters such as speed, power, gas pressure, and feed rates.

· Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks.

· Measure finished components using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

· Troubleshoot programming, machine, and cutting-quality issues.

· Optimize programs to improve productivity and reduce material waste.

· Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.

· Maintain production records, job reports, and inspection documents.

· Follow company safety procedures and workplace regulations.

· Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams.

Required Skills

· Knowledge of CNC laser cutting operations.

· Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SigmaNEST, TruTops, BySoft, Lantek, or similar).

· Ability to read technical drawings and GD&T symbols.

· Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.

· Knowledge of machine setup, tooling, and nesting techniques.

· Familiarity with quality control and inspection methods.

· Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.

· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

· Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Tool & Die, or a related field.

· 2–5 years of experience in CNC laser programming and operation (depending on employer requirements).

· Experience with fiber laser or CO₂ laser cutting machines preferred.

Preferred Experience

· Working knowledge of machines from manufacturers such as TRUMPF, Bystronic, Amada, or Bodor.

· Experience in sheet metal fabrication and production environments.

· Knowledge of nesting optimization and material utilization techniques.
