About the Role

We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to strengthen our plant’s quality management.

In this role, you will take hands-on ownership of manufacturing quality assurance. You will act as a vital link between the shop floor, and external customer quality representatives. The ideal candidate will have minimum 3 years of robust experience within the Tier-1 or Tier-2 automotive sheet metal manufacturing companies and possess a deep familiarity with the quality standards and rigorous audit protocols required by major OEMs like Bajaj Auto.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manufacturing Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Incoming Inspection: Conduct strict verification of incoming raw materials (sheets/coils), bought-out parts (BOP), and outsourced processes against engineering drawings and purchase specifications.
• In-Process Inspection: Monitor production lines, perform routine line patrolling, manage first-part approval protocols, and ensure strict adherence to Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Lead final product testing, checking for dimensional compliance and aesthetic defects to ensure 100% defect-free dispatches to the customer.

2. Root Cause Analysis & CAPA

• Investigate internal line rejections and customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies (5-Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams).
• Formulate, implement, and track robust CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) to permanently eliminate recurring manufacturing defects.
• Author and submit comprehensive 8D Reports within stipulated client timelines to communicate resolution paths effectively.

3. Core Quality Documentation & PPAP

• Actively contribute to the preparation, compilation, and submission of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation for new part development or engineering changes.

4. Audits & Compliance

• Support the plant management team during formal Customer Audits and system audits, ensuring all floor documentation, inspection logs, and gauges are compliant and up to date.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of core quality assurance/control experience strictly within an automotive manufacturing environment (Sheet Metal / Press Shop & Welding experience preferred).
• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of standard manufacturing inspection processes (Incoming, In-process, PDI), IATF 16949 awareness preferred
• Technical Skills: High proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and hands-on expertise with standard measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
• Problem-Solving: Proven experience in drafting 8D reports, executing CAPA, and conducting structured root cause analysis.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to collect shop floor rejection data and compile clear charts/PPM tracking for management reviews.
• Soft Skills: Assertive communication skills in English and Marathi/Hindi to interface seamlessly with operators, tool room teams, and customer quality auditors.
