Purchase Engineer

1. Role Purpose

To manage the procurement of polymers, moulded components, paint-shop materials, consumables, tools, and

equipment, ensuring timely availability, quality compliance, and competitive pricing.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Procurement

• Source and procure polymers (ABS, PC-ABS, PP, PA).

• Purchase paint-shop materials: primers, basecoats, clearcoats, hardeners, thinners, solvents, tack rags,

masking items, booth filters, AHU filters.

• Procure moulded parts, jigs/fixtures, spray guns, hoses, pumps, and consumables.

• Issue RFQs, prepare comparison sheets, negotiate prices, and finalize POs.

B. Supplier Management

• Conduct supplier audits for capacity, quality, delivery, and 5S.

• Monitor supplier performance: OTD, PPM, response, service.

• Maintain rate contracts, commercial terms, and annual reviews.

• Build and maintain reliable supplier relationships.

C. Inventory & Planning

• Maintain optimum inventory of polymers, paints, and critical consumables.

• Define min/max levels and ensure timely replenishment.

• Coordinate with PPC for accurate material planning.

• Control slow-moving and non-moving materials.

D. Technical & Cross-Functional Support

• Coordinate with Toolroom, Moulding, Paint Shop, QA, Stores, and Projects.

• Support NPD activities: samples, trials, approvals, PPAP, APQP.

• Share technical specifications (material grades, paint specs, MSDS).

• Facilitate sample testing and validation.

E. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to ISO/TS/IATF procurement and documentation requirements.

• Maintain GRNs, MRs, supplier documents, and MSDS records.

• Prepare monthly MIS on inventory, supplier performance, and price trends.

• Ensure compliance in chemical storage and handling.
