Job Description

Job SummaryThe Stores Manager is responsible for managing the supermarket's inventory, warehouse operations, stock movement, receiving, storage, and dispatch processes. The role ensures optimum stock availability, inventory accuracy, minimal stock losses, and efficient coordination with purchasing, sales floor, and vendors.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesInventory ManagementMaintain accurate inventory records.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Track fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving items.
  • Ensure stock availability while avoiding overstocking.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock reviews.
  • Goods Receiving & GRNSupervise receipt of goods from vendors.
  • Verify quantity, quality, expiry dates, and pricing.
  • Ensure proper Goods Receipt Note (GRN) process.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers regarding discrepancies.
  • Warehouse & Storage ManagementEnsure proper storage of products as per category.
  • Maintain FIFO (First In First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry First Out) practices.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of store rooms.
  • Monitor temperature-sensitive and perishable products.
  • Stock Movement ControlManage stock transfers between warehouse and sales floor.
  • Ensure timely replenishment of shelves.
  • Monitor stock movement and prevent unauthorized removal of goods.
  • Coordinate with floor supervisors and department heads.
  • Stock Audits & Shrinkage ControlConduct cycle counts and physical stock verification.
  • Investigate stock variances.
  • Implement controls to reduce shrinkage, damages, and pilferage.
  • Coordinate during internal and external audits.
  • Team ManagementSupervise storekeepers, warehouse assistants, and inventory staff.
  • Assign duties and monitor performance.
  • Train staff on inventory procedures and stock handling.
  • Maintain discipline and productivity.
  • Vendor CoordinationCoordinate with suppliers regarding deliveries.
  • Resolve shortages, damages, and quality issues.
  • Maintain delivery schedules and documentation.
  • Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with company SOPs.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and warehouse safety standards.
  • Ensure safe material handling practices.
  • Desired Candidate ProfileEducationGraduate in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • Experience5 to 10 years of experience in supermarket, retail, warehouse, FMCG, or inventory management.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
