Job Description

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT ENGINEER

The Contract Management Engineer is the lead custodian of the project’s technical, financial, and regulatory integrity. This role ensures that all engineering proposals, manufacturing commitments, and Intellectual Property (IP) protections are strictly aligned with the Master Contract and customer confidentiality requirements for high-precision tooling in the gadget industry.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Master Contract & IP Governance

  • Audit & Alignment: Conduct detailed audits of Master Contracts to ensure technical proposals for Jigs & Fixtures are fully in-line with legal frameworks.
  • IP Protection: Implement and monitor protocols to safeguard customer Intellectual Property (3D models, proprietary assembly logic, and gadget schematics).
  • Confidentiality Management: Ensure all team members and sub-contractors adhere to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs). Manage "Clean Room" protocols or digital data access controls to prevent unauthorized data leaks.

2. Risk & Customer Management

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify technical risks (e.g., machining distortion) and compliance risks (e.g., data security breaches). Implement and monitor robust mitigation plans.
  • Customer Interface: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Customer Audits. Ensure professional transparency regarding toolroom capabilities and data security.
  • Audit Resolution: Take full ownership of internal and customer audit findings. Ensure the rapid implementation and formal closure of all corrective actions.

3. Commercial & Process Control

  • Machining Hour Control: Monitor and control actual machining hours against the initial Commercial Estimate. Proactively address variances to maintain project profitability.
  • Commitment Validation: Verify that automation requirements (PLC/Pneumatics) and material selections (SS, Aluminium, TPU) match the contractual Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Sub-Contractor Oversight: Audit sub-contractors to ensure their technical output meets precision standards (±5 to ±10 microns) and their data handling complies with IP requirements.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Education & Experience

  • Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience: 5–8 years in technical contract management or project engineering within a high-precision toolroom.

2. Specialized Knowledge

  • IP & Data Security: Strong understanding of Intellectual Property rights, NDA enforcement, and secure data handling practices for sensitive customer designs.
  • Contractual Literacy: Expert ability to interpret Master Service Agreements (MSAs), SOWs, and technical drawings.
  • Technical Breadth: Functional understanding of CNC machining, PLC logic, pneumatic routing, and the properties of materials used in fixture building (SS, Alu, TPU).

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  1. Contractual Integrity: 100% alignment between fixture execution and Master Contract commitments.
  2. IP Compliance: Zero incidents of data leakage or unauthorized access to customer proprietary information.
  3. Audit Success: Zero "Open" points post-customer audit and timely closure of all corrective actions.
  4. Financial Control: Maintenance of actual machining hours and material costs within ±5% of the commercial estimate.
