Consultant, CPAM - Cost Intelligence

About ICA

As one of fastest growing practice in DAS, Infrastructure and Climate Advisory (ICA) team at KGS invites like-minded professionals to help us drive progress and change. At KGS ICA practice, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of industries to assist public and private sector organizations involved in infrastructure to deliver desired outcomes, for society and businesses. We are the Centre of Excellence for KPMG’s Global practices, helping our clients to develop better understanding of the evolving policy and regulatory environment, business and commercial risks, as well as providing commercial and strategic advice on complex infrastructure and capital projects. You will work on a wide range of infrastructure sectors including transportation, digital and social infrastructure (education, healthcare), with diverse clientage a diverse range of clientele such as public sector entities, infrastructure owners, project developers, large corporates, contractors, equity investors, and financers.

The role will be based out of KPMG’s Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Mumbai offices and liaise cross-functionally with leaders across the business to drive internal and external engagement.

Roles & responsibilities

•Ensure high-quality deliverables within set plans, budgets, and standards
•Supporting client engagements with minimal supervision from senior team members, as necessary
•Identification of client's potential challenges and issues in an engagement and proactively presenting initial solutions
•Assist in developing thought leadership materials to enhance market intelligence and sector knowledge
•Stay informed on industry trends, competitor moves, and product/service developments to maintain competitive edge
•Independently engage with both domestic and global stakeholders, managing expectations and prioritizing work effectively
•Demonstrate strong multi-tasking abilities, working efficiently with geographically dispersed teams in a fast-paced environment

Mandatory  technical & functional skills

Infra Cost Benchmarking — develop and apply benchmarks across asset classes to validate estimates and bids.
Cost Planning & Estimation — prepare Class 3–5 estimates, elemental cost plans, and BOQ-aligned take‑offs
Cost Assurance & Governance — perform independent cost reviews, audit trail maintenance, and compliance with organizational controls.
Quantity Surveying (QS) Fundamentals — measurement (POMI/SMM/CESMM), valuation, interim/final accounts, claims, and re‑measurement.
Predictive Analysis & Forecasting — build models for cost/schedule risk, trend analysis, and probabilistic forecasts (e.g., Monte Carlo).Change, Risk & Contingency Management — quantify impacts, maintain risk registers, and manage contingency drawdown with governance.
Contract & Commercial Models — experience with NEC/FIDIC/JCT forms, payment mechanisms, target cost, and pain/gain share frameworks.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting — produce executive dashboards, cost reports, and present insights to project and finance leaders.
Digital Tools & Data Hygiene — proficiency in QS/estimating tools (CostX/CANDY/PRISM), Excel/Power BI, and robust data structuring.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of different software including Power BI, Alteryx, Scheduling tools, BIM and Power Apps (preferred but not mandatory)

Educational qualifications

MBA’s, Postgraduates and Engineers from a leading Indian/International educational institutions
Candidates holding certifications from renowned institutes including PMI, APM, PMO or equivalent certification relevant to the requirements are preferred

Prior Experience

Relevant infrastructure sectors and/or experience of 4-6 years gained in global research and consulting firms
Experience in major projects and programmes, in a field such as accounting, audit, commercial management & quantity surveying, ideally in infrastructure of one of our priority sectors of transport, defense, power and utilities or nuclear
