Inventory control

Proper inventory planning is the key, and well defined stacking norms to be followed. Stock movements (inbound / outbound) should be as per SOP, and pre-defined process to be followed at each level. Some key points are….

1.    Ensure that, a healthy inventory level of 45-60 days

2.    Ensure that, FEFO is maintained properly.

3.    Do a regular review on non-moving / slow moving inventory (once in 15 days)

4.    Keep a track on market returns / push for liquidation.

5.    Escalation and chasing of near expiry stock liquidation with sales

6.    Appropriate stock location matrix to be followed (both physical + System)

7.    Monthly report on Expired /Near Expiry / Slow moving inventories

8.    Explore the opportunities of rotate the stock within the branch and region.

9.    Track / chase for a closure of primary discrepancies

10. Clear space allocation for picked / packed / expired / near expiry / damaged products with clean markings & labelling etc..

Logistics Coordination

Logistics Coordination is another key role played by a BM. Planning is the first key; a proper planning will help you in saving cost and time. Dispatch executions should be in route wise manner, and delivery person / vehicle should be ready with route wise plan. Points to be considered here are

1.    Route wise delivery arrangements

2.    Keep the sales team / customer informed on delivery (Pre-alert)

3.    Coordinate for Cheque collections (if required) (Pre-alignment)

4.    Prepare outward register and obtain signature from delivery person/ driver
