Job Description - MELD - Junior Server - Front of House

An Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and attentive Junior Server to join our Front of House team in our hyper traceable bakehouse & restaurant. This entry-level role focuses on providing warm hospitality, supporting floor service operations, assisting senior servers, and learning to communicate complex traceability stories (farm origins, seasonal produce, artisanal baked goods) to guests while maintaining high standards of front-of-house efficiency and cleanliness.

Core Responsibilities

Guest Service & Hospitality Support

●    Assist in providing warm, professional, and attentive hospitality to all guests across the dining room.

●    Learn and maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, dietary options, and farm-to-table traceability stories to answer basic guest questions.

●    Deliver dishes, beverages, and baked goods promptly to tables, ensuring accurate order presentation and table setup.

Service Operations & Floor Maintenance

●    Work closely with senior floor servers, hosts, and kitchen/bakehouse staff to ensure smooth service cadence and table pacing.

●    Perform dining room reset, table clearing, and water service efficiently between seatings.

●    Support daily pass management, food running, and beverage station stocking during operational shifts.

●    Assist with opening and closing checklists, floor cleaning, and dining room ambiance maintenance.

Team Collaboration & Service Learning

●    Attend daily pre-service briefings to learn about menu specials, daily farm-fresh ingredients, and service priorities.

●    Support senior servers during peak hours by running items, clearing tables, and refilling guest amenities.

●    Maintain a proactive, positive attitude and learn standard front-of-house operating procedures and POS basics.

Front of House Inventory & Station Upkeep

●    Keep beverage stations, condiment areas, cutlery drawers, and service trays fully stocked and organized.

●    Follow FIFO rotation and proper handling procedures for front-of-house coffee/tea supplies, guest linens, and glassware.

●    Assist with weekly or biweekly inventory counts of glassware, chinaware, and dining room operating supplies.

Additional Operational Responsibilities

●    Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards across all dining areas and service stations.

●    Promptly report any equipment maintenance needs, broken items, or guest feedback to the Head Server or Floor Manager.

●    Assist in managing spills, table wipe-downs, and maintaining a spotless dining environment throughout service.

Required Qualifications

●    0-2 years of experience in hospitality or customer service; entry-level candidates with a strong passion for service are welcome.

●    Basic understanding of food service and willingness to learn menu details, POS operation, and beverage pairings.

●    Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first attitude.

●    Enthusiasm for sustainable food systems, farm-to-table dining, and hyper-traceable produce.

●    High attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced dining room environment.

●    Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays during extended service shifts.
