About the RoleWe are looking for a passionate and guest-focused Barista to join our team at Muro. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in coffee, excellent beverage preparation skills, and a warm, engaging approach to guest service.

As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality coffee and beverages, maintaining excellent hygiene and service standards, understanding guest preferences, and creating a memorable café experience.

• Key Responsibilities1. Beverage Preparation & QualityPrepare espresso-based beverages, manual brews, teas, and specialty drinks according to standard recipes.
• Maintain consistency in taste, temperature, presentation, and portion size.
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind size, dose, and yield as required.
• Understand basic coffee concepts, including roast profiles, grind size, extraction, and milk texturing.
• Prepare and serve beverages accurately and efficiently during high-volume service.
• Maintain consistent beverage quality throughout the shift.
• 2. Guest Service & EngagementWelcome guests warmly and create a friendly, comfortable café environment.
• Explain menu items, ingredients, flavour profiles, and brewing methods confidently.
• Recommend beverages and food pairings based on guest preferences.
• Promote add-ons, specials, and new products in a natural, non-pushy manner.
• Respond to guest feedback professionally and escalate concerns when required.
• Build positive relationships with regular guests and contribute to an exceptional overall experience.
• 3. Food Handling & CoordinationHandle food and beverage items according to hygiene and food-safety standards.
• Follow proper storage, handling, and serving procedures.
• Coordinate clearly with kitchen and service teams regarding orders, modifications, and special requests.
• Ensure guest orders are prepared and delivered accurately.
• 4. Station Setup, Hygiene & MaintenanceSet up the barista station before service and complete closing procedures as per SOPs.
• Maintain cleanliness of espresso machines, grinders, tools, counters, and service areas.
• Perform daily cleaning, backflushing, and basic equipment maintenance.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Keep the barista station organised and service-ready throughout the shift.
• 5. Inventory & Stock ControlMonitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, disposables, and other bar supplies.
• Inform the supervisor or management about low-stock items.
• Assist with stock rotation, storage, and proper labelling.
• Follow FIFO and appropriate storage practices.
• Minimise wastage through accurate preparation, portion control, and proper storage.
• 6. Teamwork & TrainingWork collaboratively with baristas, service staff, kitchen teams, and management.
• Support smooth operations during busy service periods.
• Assist in training junior baristas or trainees when required.
• Participate in coffee tastings, product briefings, and training sessions.
• Follow operational SOPs, brand standards, and training guidelines.
• Skills & CompetenciesTechnical SkillsBasic to intermediate knowledge of espresso and milk-based beverage preparation.
• Understanding of coffee beans, brewing methods, extraction, and café equipment.
• Ability to dial in espresso and maintain beverage consistency.
• Basic understanding of milk steaming and texturing.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately during high-volume service.

• Qualifications & ExperiencePrior experience as a Barista is preferred; training can be provided for suitable candidates.
• Barista certification or food-safety certification is an added advantage.
• Passion for coffee, hospitality, and guest service is essential.
• Candidates with strong hospitality or customer-service experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
• Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to stand and work for extended periods.
• Comfortable lifting and handling coffee supplies and operating café equipment.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Ability to maintain performance and service quality during busy periods.
