VMC Programmer

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. CNC Programming.

• Create, edit, and modify VMC programs using G-Code / M-Code.
• Develop machining programs based on component drawings and process requirements.
• Optimize programs to reduce cycle time and improve productivity.
• Perform program proving, dry runs, and corrections before production.
• Maintain CNC program records and revision control.

2. Machine Setting & Operation.

• Set up VMC machines for production jobs.
• Load tools, fixtures, and components properly.
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and machine parameters.
• Operate VMC machines as per production schedules.
• Monitor machining process and rectify basic machining issues. 

3. Drawing & Process Understanding.

• Read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Understand machining sequence and process requirements.
• Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.

4. Quality Control.

• Inspect components using measuring instruments:
• Vernier Caliper
• Micrometer
• Height Gauge
• Bore Gauge
• Thread Gauges
• Ensure components meet dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
• Coordinate with Quality Department for inspection and approvals.
• Maintain zero-defect production practices.

5. Production & Productivity.

• Achieve daily production targets.
• Reduce machine downtime and improve machine utilization.
• Support cycle time reduction and process improvement activities.
• Maintain production reports and job records.

6. Machine Maintenance & Safety

• Perform basic machine cleaning and preventive maintenance activities.
• Maintain coolant levels, lubrication, and machine housekeeping.
• Follow safety procedures and company SOPs.

Qualification:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering preferred.
• CNC/VMC programming certification will be an advantage.
