Job Description

An HVAC Site Engineer serves as the critical bridge between design intent and physical execution. They are responsible for supervising the day-to-day installation, testing, and commissioning of systems like chillers, AHUs, and ductwork. They ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

1. Project Execution & Supervision

  • Drawing Review: Verifying that the physical site installation aligns with technical schematics and blueprints (e.g., ducting, piping layouts).
  • Site Management: Overseeing contractors and site teams, managing manpower utilization, and tracking daily/weekly progress against project milestones.
  • Quality Control: Conducting routine site inspections to ensure the highest standards of workmanship are met and correcting any deviations. [1, 2]



2. Testing & Commissioning

  • System Start-Up: Overseeing the testing, balancing, and commissioning of major HVAC equipment like VRFs, chillers, and fans.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical failures or system performance issues that arise during the installation or operational phase. [1, 2, 3]



3. Material & Resource Planning

  • Inventory Management: Overseeing the procurement, inspection, and storage of HVAC materials and plant equipment.
  • Cost Tracking: Measuring completed work on-site, verifying contractor bills, and tracking potential cost overruns. [1, 2]



4. Safety & Compliance

  • Safety Audits: Enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and holding regular toolbox talks with site personnel.
  • Code Compliance: Ensuring all installations meet energy efficiency targets and local building regulations. [1, 2]



5. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaison: Acting as the primary technical point of contact bridging clients, project managers, and vendors.
