Job Description
As Commis Chef, you will support the Executive Chef and senior kitchen team in food preparation, production, and event execution across Odyssey Caterings. This role is ideal for a disciplined and eager culinary professional who wants hands-on exposure to premium catering, large-format production, and high-quality event service.
Key Responsibilities
· Food Preparation: Assist with mise en place, ingredient prep, portioning, cooking support, and station readiness for events.
· Production Support: Execute tasks assigned by the Executive Chef and senior chefs across hot kitchen, cold kitchen, plating, and finishing.
· Quality Standards: Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, hygiene, and portion control as per kitchen standards.
· Event Readiness: Support packing, dispatch preparation, live counter setup, and event-day culinary requirements when required.
· Kitchen Discipline: Maintain cleanliness, workstation organization, and proper storage practices throughout shifts.
· Team Support: Work collaboratively with chefs, stewards, and support staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
· Learning & Development: Absorb training, follow SOPs, and build capability across cuisines, techniques, and event formats.
· Compliance: Follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards at all times.
Qualifications
· Prior experience as a commis, junior chef, line cook, or kitchen trainee is preferred.
· Basic understanding of kitchen operations, ingredient handling, and cooking techniques.
· Willingness to learn, take direction, and work in a fast-paced team environment.
· Good stamina, discipline, and attention to detail.
· Culinary training or hotel management education is an advantage.
· Flexibility to work long shifts, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event schedules.
· Positive attitude and commitment to quality execution.
