Assistant
Manager – Technical Competency & Skills Development Role
Over view We are looking for an Assistant Manager – Technical Competency
& Skills Development with an Engineering background to
drive employee development, performance assessment, and talent grooming within
our Engineering and Manufacturing organization.
The primary responsibility of this role is to closely monitor, evaluate,
mentor, and develop newly joined trainees, freshers, and probationary employees
during their initial months in the organization. The role requires regular
technical and behavioral assessments, identification of skill gaps, training
recommendations, and continuous performance tracking to support management in
making informed employee retention and confirmation decisions.Key
ResponsibilitiesEmployee Assessment &
Development· Conduct weekly performance evaluations of trainees, freshers, and probationary employees.
· Monitor technical competency, learning progress, work quality, productivity, attitude, and overall development.
· Identify skill gaps and recommend suitable training and development initiatives.
· Prepare structured evaluation reports and share periodic updates with management.
· Maintain employee development records and progress tracking reports.
Employee
Grooming & Handholding· Act as a mentor and guide for newly joined employees during their probation period.
· Provide continuous feedback and corrective guidance to help employees improve performance.
· Assist employees in understanding organizational expectations, work processes, and performance standards.
· Support employees in overcoming technical and behavioral challenges.
Technical
Evaluation & Competency Assessment· Assess employees’ technical understanding, learning capability, problem-solving skills, and practical application of engineering concepts.
· Coordinate with department heads and reporting managers to gather performance feedback.
· Evaluate readiness of employees for independent responsibilities.
Performance
Review & Confirmation Process· Track employee progress during the first 1–3 months of employment.
· Recommend confirmation, probation extension, additional training, or separation based on performance.
· Provide objective assessment reports to management for final retention decisions.
Training
Coordination & Development Planning· Identify training needs based on performance assessments.
· Coordinate internal and external training programs.
· Monitor training effectiveness and employee improvement.
Administrative
Support· Support onboarding and induction activities.
· Maintain employee assessment records and progress reports.
Qualifications
▪ Bachelor's Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
▪ Candidates with B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electronics or Physics may also be considered based on their technical aptitude.
Experience
· 3–6 years of experience in Production, Service, Quality, Technical Training, or Engineering Operations.
· Experience in evaluating technical competency, identifying skill gaps, and monitoring employee performance.
· Ability to assess employees on technical skills, quality of work, attitude, discipline, learning ability, and commitment to assigned responsibilities.
· Experience in conducting competency assessments, providing structured feedback, and supporting continuous skill development.
· Ability to work closely with Production, Service, and Quality teams to monitor execution, evaluate performance, and drive improvement.
· Experience in preparing training inputs, competency matrices, evaluation reports, and employee development plans will be an added advantage.
