Role: Senior Engineer – Network and Security

Role Description

The Senior Engineer – Network and Security is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security. This role requires expertise in advanced network data protocols, enterprise network architecture, and security systems. The Senior Network Engineer will also play a key role in troubleshooting critical network issues, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to develop and enforce network policies. Staying updated with the latest networking technologies and best practices is essential to continuously improving the network environment. Additionally, the Lead Network Engineer will work closely with the Network and Security Manager to coordinate the Network team, ensuring effective resource allocation, project execution, and network security enforcement.

 

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and deployment of functional and scalable network solutions.
• Configure, install, and maintain various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs).
• Monitor network performance, ensuring system availability and reliability.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced network issues efficiently.
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches, service packs, hot fixes, and security configurations.
• Implement and manage network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Participate in IT infrastructure projects within the service area.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all network implementations.
• Lead and mentor junior network engineers, providing technical guidance and training.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational network policies.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design and enhance network architectures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to optimize network performance and security.
• Coordinate with the Network and Security Manager to manage and oversee the Chennai Network team, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient project execution.

• Relevant industry certifications
• Expertise in advanced network data protocols and enterprise-level networking solutions.
• Strong proficiency in network monitoring, diagnostic tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing enterprise network security systems.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with IT professionals and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
• In-depth understanding of the OSI model, networking principles, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience in configuring and maintaining network hardware for platforms used in the service area.
• Good organizational and time-management skills to meet project deadlines.
• Proven experience in large-scale network deployments and high-availability network designs.
• Experience in managing or assisting with team leadership in network engineering projects.
• Years of experience 8+
