Job Summary

A Test Lead (PM/SPM) is responsible for:

• Leading end-to-end QA/testing activities
• Managing manual and automation testing strategies
• Ensuring quality delivery across projects/programs
• Driving team leadership, governance, and client engagement

🔹 1. QA Leadership & Strategy

• Define overall QA strategy and testing approach
• Decide balance between:
  • Manual testing (functional, UX)
  • Automation testing (regression, CI/CD)
• Create test plans, test strategies, and roadmaps
• Define quality KPIs and metrics (defect density, coverage, etc.)
• Ensure testing aligns with business goals and product quality
• Drive process improvements and QA best practices
• Ensure QA is integrated across the entire SDLC lifecycle 

🔹 2. Manual + Automation Testing Ownership

Manual Testing Lead Responsibilities

• Validate business flows, UI/UX, user journeys
• Oversee functional, integration, and UAT testing
• Ensure test coverage across all modules

Automation Testing Lead Responsibilities

• Define automation strategy and framework
• Lead automation initiatives using:
  • Selenium / Cypress / Playwright
• Ensure automated regression coverage
• Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Review and approve:
  • Test cases
  • Automation scripts
  • Test execution results

🔹 3. Program / Delivery Management (PM / SPM)

• Own end-to-end testing delivery across projects/programs
• Plan:
  • Test timelines
  • Resources
  • Release schedules
• Track:
  • Sprint progress
  • Testing completion
  • Release readiness
• Manage:
  • Risks, dependencies, and issues
  • Defect triage and prioritization
• Coordinate:
  • SIT (System Testing)
  • UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
  • Production releases
• Provide:
  • Weekly status reports
  • Governance dashboards

🔹 4. Team Leadership & People Management

• Lead and mentor QA team (manual + automation testers)
• Assign work based on skills and priorities
• Conduct:
  • Code reviews (automation)
  • Test reviews
  • Performance reviews
• Build:
  • Strong QA capability
  • Automation-focused culture

🔹 5. Stakeholder & Client Management

• Act as QA SPOC for clients and stakeholders
• Translate:
  • Business requirements → testing strategy
• Participate in:
  • Requirement discussions
  • Design reviews
• Communicate:
  • Test progress
  • Risks and quality issues
  • Release readiness

🔹 6. Defect & Quality Governance

• Manage defect lifecycle (end-to-end)
• Conduct defect triage calls
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
• Prevent defect leakage to production
• Track quality using metrics and dashboards

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree: Computer Science / IT
• Experience:
  • 5–8 years → Test Lead
  • 8–12+ years → Senior PM / SPM (QA)
• Certifications (optional):
  • ISTQB
  • Scrum / Agile
  • PMP (for PM/SPM roles)
